I stuck with the Democratic Party all these years with little to show for it.

We've been the loser party for so long. It started with the 1984 slaughter, the anti Clinton reaction in 1994 up until last year. While I was too young to vote in the 1970s, the national animosity against Democrats was definitely present then. Even the Clinton years were a mixed bag. While people approved of how he ran the country, it did not translate into general support for the party or liberalism in general.

Now, finally, the Democrats come to power with a national feeling that cannot be adequately called a mandate. It is more like a national insistence. (There was a lot of blue on that map on the day after the election.) I cannot describe how gratifying and long overdue this day is.
