George Will let Obama drink out of one of Abe Lincoln's cups
At his house last week. Apparently, George Will owns one of Lincoln's actual drinking cup.

Thanks to Chuck Todd for the gossip news.

1. A charming gesture, but he should DONATE the cups to the White House...
...instead of hoarding them in his private collection.

2. Do you think there might be some Democrats who own such historic items
that they should DONATE to the White House?

4. Of course. Our heritage should be removed from the private collections and given back to the public.

6. That wasn't the point of the post though, was it?
The point was to find a way to slam a Republican for something even when he was trying to do something nice. God forbid that we could ever admit that a Republican could do something nice for a Democrat.

5. I don't really agree. There's nothing wrong with private collections.
Private collectors often find, restore, and preserve artifacts that otherwise would be lost. After all, public museums cannot possibly hold every single object or artwork that might be of interest to someone.

7. The White House does not have space to keep every cup every President ever drank from.
Of course there will be some in private collections. There is a lot of Lincoln memorabilia in the White House now.

9. interesting
Last Sunday, when asked about the dinner, George Will said "I think that he was very impressive, and we probably weren't that impressive." Uh, sounds about right.
