Local Couple Plans Inauguration Party (ex GOP Chair)

MILWAUKEE—Enter Rod and Sharon DePue’s Yankee Hill apartment and you are surrounded by modern art, comfortable furnishings and Barack Obama memorabilia. But the one thousand square foot digs seem too small for the sort of Obama party the retired couple plan for Tuesday evening.

“Oh we’re having it downstairs in the community room,” Rod says quickly. “We have about 70 people coming. We could never do it here,”

At 76 and 69 years old respectively, the DePues might seem like an unlikely pair of Obama fans. Add to that the fact that <b>Sharon used to be the chair of the Milwaukee County Republican Party</b>, and Tuesday’s gathering seems almost unbelievable.
