"Bad things happen when Obama speaks" - whiny LTTE in Columbus Dispatch
Bad things happen when Obama speaks
(Columbus Dispatch, January 19, 2008)

Just an idea: Can somebody tell the Magic President-elect Barack Obama to quit talking? This is not the campaign trail anymore; he won, and what he says now really matters. Every time that he opens his mouth, the stock market crashes.

It is not the president's job to create fear and uncertainty in an effort to obtain the nation's support of big-government "fixes." Rather, it's the president's job to inspire confidence and certainty that much better days are ahead. Remember Ronald Reagan and, by way of contrast, Jimmy Carter?

I have a number of really smart friends who voted for this guy -- again, in contrast with so many others who voted for him -- and I only hope that they saw something I didn't and that he can handle the job. It was apparent to me that Obama is in way over his head.

Here's another idea: Obama should come out tomorrow and say he's reducing capital gains taxes and corporate taxes, making the Bush tax cuts permanent and won't give $800 billion in welfare to people who don't pay taxes and to businesses that are failing.

I bet the market doesn't crash on that day!

MIKE McKINNEY
Bexley

Wow, talk about "bitter"! And so out of step. I read this morning that 84% of Americans approve of Obama at this point. I guess we all saw something Mikey didn't! Whiny loser.

The fact is, I love reading (and posting) letters like this as they entertainingly reveal the degree of brainwashing that the dregs remaining on the right have undergone. This guy has obviously bought into all of the current hate radio talking points. Notice the worship of Reagan and the slam against Carter? And of course the "Obama caused the stock crash" idiocy surfaces early in Mikey's letter.

Wow. That's a whole lot of stupid to cram into one whiny letter. Way to go, Mikey!

1. Obviously Mike is one of the deluded 22%:
"Obama should come out tomorrow and say he's reducing capital gains taxes and corporate taxes, making the Bush tax cuts permanent and won't give $800 billion in welfare to people who don't pay taxes..."

He should've run further with that thought-line.

4. One good LTTE deserves another
Here's one the best call and responses I've ever read! I have removed the names of the writers for their privacy. You can access the article from the attached link.
This is from the Coconut Grove, FL Grapevine, which is a local "What's Happening" paper for the Grove community in Miami.
The King Mango Strut is an annual parade around the New Year. This year, the parade theme was reverently dedicated to Barack Obama. Obviously, some were upset...

"He Probably Likes Code Enforcement officers, too"

Re the King Mango Strut Parade:
"Since Glenn Terry and the Strutters already have coroneted President-elect Barack Obama, it will be interesting to see if they attack the president after his first year in office with the same level of spite and vitriol used to attack President George W. Bush the last few years. My guess is that they will not."

Response by -------, Fan of the Strut:

"Perhaps not ----. Perhaps it will be because we elected someone with integrity and intelligence this time - not a Supreme Court appointed poser. But if Obama acts with the same disdain for the constitution and truth as the current president it will be our duty as citizens to attack him with the same level of spite and vitriol as it was our duty to attack Bush. For the likes of you to continue to defend this rogue president whose acts repeatedly rose to the level of crimes and misdemeanor is beyond me."

He must be in agony every day he walks out his front door....or his mom's basement

14. I wonder if he's the moron who lives across from the synagogue. Because that one
had like a six foot bush sign in front of his house in 2004. The letter and that sign both seem to demonstrate similar feelings of inadequacy.

you are probably correct
On edit - a search of the Franklin County Ohio Auditor property records for McKinney...page to page 3, look at Margaret S ...looks like there are a few properties that have some sketchy transfers (from himself and another party to himself to a realtor to a weird corporation back to himself then over to a trust)....LOTS of transfers on all of them

So he either lives in some multi family dwelling on Cassidy or in of of 2 dwellings on SOUTH Roosevelt (for those of you that don't live here, living on S. Roosevelt to most who live in North Bexley is like being from another planet...NORTH of a certain street means you are on the same planet...all wealth related...a lot of real snobbery that has been ongoing for years...but you better not live too far NORTH either...Bexley has some serious money, lots of it OLD money). Larry Flint used to live at the corner of Broad Street and S. Columbia, right ext to the Columbus School for Girls:

10. Why would a newspaper even post something so delusional?
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 08:51 AM by high density
What is a "crash" by this guy's definition?
Obama is optimism and confidence.
Mike is both for and against corporate welfare.

15. Columbus is like a liberal island in a vast sea of rural conservatives.
The newspaper includes a lot of rural areas and tiny towns in its circulation area, and they print a lot of pro-bush nonsense from people living in places I never heard of. This particular wingnut is from Bexley, a good-sized, well-to-do suburb bordering Columbus itself, but more often they're way out there in "Palin country".

12. Dear Mike McKinney--
Clean the wax out of your ears, crawl out from under the rock you've been living under for eight fucking years, and take an Economics 101 class. Perhaps then you will learn that a) you are an ill-informed douchebag, and b) Bush's tax cuts were a fucking disaster for the economy.

Much love,
Arkana
