Did Bush have a big inauguration like this?
I will admit I watched not one minute of it 4 years ago.

But hubby and I are sitting here wondering if all of this is just because Obama is such a historic president or if they always do this. All I can remember from past inaugurations are the balls, none of this stuff like this concert the weekend before.

Or maybe Democrats just know how to party better. :)

4. Countng the people with the eggs?
I watched C-Span's coverage of the 1st Bush inaugural parade: sparse crowds along the route, most with signs that weren't exactly flattering to the new president, occasional shouts and thrown objects. At the very end, at the reserved viewing stands, there were the picked and screened pro-Bush crowds. Guess which footage the MSM showed?

I didn't watch any of his 2nd inauguration.

13. I watched the egg hit the limo. Great moments in history!
The Limo was coming up Pennysvania Ave., barracaded and arm to arm Getsapo Riot geared & black booted thugs shoulder to shoulder holding back the protesting crowds with batons & bull horns. It looked like a riot might break at any moment and swarm the black limo coming up the path. From out of no where an object went skyward at great speed gaining altitude, as the crowd stopped shoving and watched in awe. The projectile reached it maximum velosity as gravity grabbed it and it stood still in the sky. The crowd gave out a large "Awe, Oohh," as if they were witnessing fire works. Bush in the back seat of the limo, with his face pressed to the glass in an icy drool, with eyes wide opened had spotted the white object as it began to drop. The crowds eyes fixated, the crowds rising voice, "Oooooh," as the egg hurtled earthward gaining speed and on a collision course with the limo. Bush could only gaze at the egg coming down, and dove for the floorboard as the egg smashed into the hood of the Limo and a roaring cheer rose from the crowd, while a few jack booted thugs snickered under their spit covered visor-shields. It was over in seconds, but it seemed like hours of slow motion film rolling by. I recall thinking, that one was from Bill Clinton. And that my friend is how I recall the events of the Bush history, just one big humpty Dumpty that was never put together again.

3. Clinton did.....Democratic Inagurals are normally "bigger deals" because more entertainers want to
be involved.

Also, Bush never had a mandate from the people. Ever.

7. What I remember most is the parade....

...Bush's limo was pelted with eggs.

If Obama's limo got an egg on it, I'm sure ten people will use their coats to wipe it off.

9. The GOP can never get any good entertainment
except Lee Greenwood and his "God Bless the USA"--and other third-rate country singers whose careers have been dead for 20 years.

10. The closest thing the Obama inaguration reminds me of
President Carter's inaguration in 1977. I recall it was touted as a people's inauguration, and Carter was the first POTUS to walk the parade route. I was at the parade and folks were jubilant.
