Obama is not a rockstar. He is a politician and the next president of the United States.
Let's try to separate the two.

It's important for us to take him seriously as a heavily influential political figure and not fawn at him like he is some Backstreet Boy.

37. Well NO he actually IS a "rock star"...
The only thing he doesn't do is sing or play music.

He has the charisma, the entourage, the popularity and the fans.

Clinton, Reagan, and Kennedy were also "rock stars".

It is NOT a bad thing if it is used for good.

You could switch Clay Aiken with Obama and not miss a beat in terms of reaction. Couldn't say the same thing about Clinton, Ray Gun or Kennedy.

I would guess that you aren't actually old enough to remember them that well.
I wasn't there for Kennedy but Reagan and Clinton really WERE "rock stars" and it seems pretty clear that Kennedy was also.

Not that I liked Reagan's politics but he certainly had a quality of charisma. He was a movie star (although not much of an actor) before he went into politics .

Clinton had a quality of "cool" as well but perhaps you don't remember his appearances on TV before he got elected in 1992. Clinton is definitely a "rock star" also.

79. As I have said previously. Doesn't mean I don't support him NOW!
Doesn't mean I have to support his arrogant rockstar behavior NOW! Have a cup of decaf and get back to me in the morning!

81. You didn't vote for him *three months* ago.
What happened in between November and now that made you "support" him yet do nothing but constantly attack him?

And I think you're the one who needs decaf. Excessive exclamation marks are a sign of that.

93. Others were more capable and competent IMO. BO became the President-Elect.
The next President needs to get this country out of our our many crisis. BO is NOW the man. I NOW support the man. I do not support his excessive arrogance that is costing a fortune.

94. The only other candidate who had a chance was McCain.
So who'd you vote for?

97. I don't vote for candidates defined by 'who had a chance (of winning)'...........
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 09:23 PM by Double T
I would never vote for a GD rethug even if someone held a gun to my head. It is about ideas, issues, positions, actual behavior and track records. For me, BO didn't pass the litmus test. My litmus test no longer matters; it is NOW about getting on with the business of repairing the bush/cheney/rethug disaster.

99. So who did you vote for?
And if you really wanted to straighten out the Bush/Cheney disaster, you WOULD have voted for the person who had the best chance of doing so, which clearly was/is Obama.

71. What an uninformed little thing you are. Try reading more on here about the actual costs.
And where the one's Obama is responsible for came from, you might learn something.

Otherwise, no one gives 2 shits about your apparent disgust at our well deserved celebration. Go celebrate in the corner with the rest of the fringe assholes that are irritated by this.
