So... If Bush Pardons himself...
and his entire staff for war crimes, does that leave the door open for other countries to try him?

I heard on Randi (as many of you did) that most legal/constituional scholars are of the belief that he can do just that.

So, assuming the worst; that they are right, would that open the door for the international community to go after his ass? Do you think we would extradite him for the trial?

In a way, I kind of hope he does; it keeps Obama from having to do so. If he doesn't pardon him, then he looses any right wingers he might pick up, and if Bush were to be tried here, and Obama DOES pardon Bush, Obama would be fucked equally.

So... What say you?

1. We would have to back him up:it would be "too divisive" or "partisan" to let others hold him to acct

3. he can't pardon himself from international law. and maybe not even from domestic ones
the SCOTUS would need to decide if he can self pardon...

If he can Nixon sure fucked up. Dick could have just issued blanket pardons instead of resigning.

Honestly, what good is the impeachment process if a president can pardon himself/herself from what ever laws were broken. It doesn't make any sense to me but then not much in the last 8 years had made sense to me.

5. Given the recent "reversal" of a pardon....
...based on the fact that the pardon must be "delivered" and "accepted," if Two Shoes does this in the 11th hour, President Obama may be able to reverse them.

6. How can he pardon himself or anyone else if they haven't been charged?
Wouldn't that be bass-ackwards?

10. That's what I was thinking too...
But from what I have heard, there is no definite answer.

11. Sure there is.
The best example, as noted above, was Ford granting Nixon a pardon. Nixon had not been charged with any crime.

8. Will Bush even need to?
There's been a disturbing amount of "compromise" recently.

9. He could.
And there is zero chance of any international trial.
