1. Why? Did a flock of old lawyers cause a plane crash?

2. It would have been useless. He can only shoot birds when their wings are clipped (I'm not making
this up).

3. I hate Cheney just as much as anyone here, but that is stupid.
Cheney was quail hunting. Whether he was hunting pen raised or wild quail, neither have their wings clipped.

"I read that the quail on Ms. Armstrong's property were domesticated, fenced and grown for the specific purpose of providing canned sport shooting for guests. Prior to the hunt, the quail were taken from their cages to various locations on Armstrong's property and released for the shoot, confused and disoriented. One newspaper reports that the quail's wings were clipped and that Cheney's hunting party went out in vehicles (probably SUV's) until they spotted a group of the recently released and dazed quail. At that point, the intrepid "hunters" jumped out of their SUV's to "flush out" the disconcerted birds. The report stated that it would have been almost as easy simply to chase the clipped-wing quail, grab them by the feet, and shake them to death."

I don't know whether this is true or not. For all I know it was some internet rumor but I remember reading various accounts at the time which claimed the same thing........ So I've got your stupid right here.

7. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. That was written by someone who has never hunted
quail in their life. No quail hunter would jump off the buggy to chase down a quail on foot and then shake it to death. Quail hunting is about being able to shoot a bird in flight. You can't do that if their wings are clipped and they can't fly.

Pen raised birds are not domesticated. They are not kept as family pets until it is time to go hunt. Pen raised birds are normally bought from someone who raises them for a living. These birds are judged to be "good" by how fast they fly out of the covey when flushed. The faster the better.

Some hunting places put birds out the morning of the hunt, but not many. The good ones normally put out a lot a the beginning of the year and then put out just as many about half way through the season. If Cheney was hunting there I will bet you it is one of the goods ones. The long the birds are on the ground, know the area, and been shot at, the better they flush.

A quick look on wiki under "Upland Hunting" would tell you the writer of that article is full of sh*t.
