REPUBLICANS ARE AIDING AND ABETTING THE TERRORISTS!
Edited on Thu Jan-15-09 02:17 PM by berni_mccoy
With an OBL tape released in the last couple days, HOW DARE the GOP try to turn the Confirmation of the Attorney General into a Partisan Pissing Contest!?!?

They are putting our country's safety at stake for their own partisan agenda!

They should be arrested for their crimes!

Read how their disgusting hate for America is putting us at risk: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-holder-confirmation16-2009jan16,0,2724994.story

(NOTE: most of my post is tongue-in-cheek, I just thought I'd try out the kind of attack the GOP has been using on Democrats for the last 8 years; the story is real)

2. I wonder how the GOP feels having this played against them...
as they did so many times to Democrats?

3. Um, the article never mentioned OBL... you're wildly off-base...
Specter was bringing up legitimate concerns about Holder because of his ties to the idiotic Clinton pardons. Maybe you should stop searching for things to be outraged about. It's getting a bit annoying.

4. Um.. I never said the article had anything to do with OBL. You're wildly off base
since you missed the point, I'll spell it out for you:

GOP. Is. Raising. Bogus. Concerns. About. Holder.

5. Actually, they're not.
It is a legitimate course of questioning to grill Holder on his Pardon ties. The Mark Rich scandal was disgusting, and had it been Bush's nominee involved in the middle of it, you would be apoplectic.

6. Legitimate in the eyes of the GOP, yes. Who issues pardons again? Not the Deputy AG.
He was asked his legal opinion and he gave it. I believe it was "Neutral".

He's expressed his regret that the Justice Dept wasn't more involved. It's time for the GOP (and you) to move on.

7. haha. Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot, eh?
It is legitimate to ask Holder about the pardons, as much as it would be legitimate to ask a future AG nominee about his role in the Libby commutation if involved.

8. Ask, yes. But it's not legitimate to hold up confirmation.

9. The guy's going to be confirmed. Let's get that straight..
and if a senator wants to bring in people for testimony about a nominee, then it is their legitimate right. I'd like to know fully what role exactly Holder had in the Clinton pardons. It airs the laundry now, so that any taint of corruption does not plague Holder. Plus, were something to come out later, it would be worse. I'd rather allow the Senate to do a thorough vetting process than find out in 6 months that the guy is corrupt. Something similar happened to the AG in my home state. The guy ran on a "kick the corrupt fucks out" platform, only to be forced to resign months later for personal corruption and improprieties.

10. They want to attempt a witch-hunt to discredit him for one reason and one reason only:
He called Bush et. al. criminals by saying torture (aka waterboarding) is illegal.

They have nothing valid they want to accomplish. You know that and I know that.

11. I don't believe that.
"if" they were going on a witch hunt, it's because of his ties to Clinton's pardons. Plus, Spector is acting very schizophrenic; he can't seem to decide if he hates Holder or loves him.
