4. My friends and fellow "super volunteers" are getting together to watch.
We all worked full time on the campaign. Somehow we got missed when they were handing out invites to the inauguration. That's ok...I put off finding a new job to get the man elected, so I actually can't afford to make the trip to DC. :(

...you know, just in case Tweety, or Scarborough or Wolfie get too carried away with their "devil's advocate" or "loyal opposition" stuff.

14. At the age of 53, I've had to suffer through big days for Nixon, Reagan,
the first Bush and two Shrubs. It will be nice to be able to truly celebrate again!

10. our schools aren't closed
so we are going to watch it on TV in the classroom.

I think January 19 and 20 should have been a double holiday.

26. teaching a college speech class at 11
How perfect is that for the first day of a new semester and the first day of a new president and a new era!

I'll be teaching my students about the difference in presidential speeches and every other type of speech. I'll give them some background on inaugural speeches. Fortunately we don't have to go anywhere to see the speech as all of our classrooms have theatre-type screens.

In the evening, we'll be joining friends for lobsters at the Portuguese restaurants in Newark to celebrate.

11. Playing hookey.
I'm not going in to work until after the inauguration so I can see it on TV.

IMO, Inauguration Day - like Election Day - should be a national holiday.

18. looking for a party locally
but can't find any. I need to email my local Barack Obama groups to see if anyone is holding one (I don't have enough space for a party)

A friend from my hometown was supposed to come down and watch it with me and she is not. She's backed out for about the thousandth time and I don't think she realizes just how rude she is by always backing out of things.
