10. I live here in DC and I can't go LOL

just a few blocks away from the Capitol building, where it's all going down. But I'm agoraphobic, so, so much for that. lol

So I'll be able to HEAR everything from my house even as I'm watching it on tv. I'll most certainly hear the planes and helicopters and stuff. (I think there's gonna be a military flyover or something, and it's gonna be LOUD!)

16. I'll be here with you. We're having a small party with a chili dog and chili burger

buffet, with jillions of toppings so people can build their own. We'll have several different kinds of pie and cobbler with homemade ice cream to go on top. And we're having 3 different kinds of local microbrews to go with the meal. And tea for me!

We'll toast the inauguration with champaign. And then when it gets dark, we'll clear the family room and living room of furniture and we're having our own ball.

My menu is a celebration of ordinary people making this happen, and it's in solidarity with that little chili dog place that Obama visited last week. The pies are in honor of one of Obama's favorite foods and to remember all the funny pie posts here. The microbrews are to help the local economy. And the ball is just because we'll be SO DAMNED HAPPY!!!!!

I don't drink anymore and neither does one of my sons so we'll toast and celebrate with punch made with ginger ale and lime sherbet. Yum!!!

And the next day it's back to fish and vegetables and green tea but I'll be SO happy about it. :)

Random story. Somehow at church last night, Nixon's resignation came up. When I realized I was almost one year old at the time it happened, I MADE my parents promise me that they remember me being awake, alert and near a TV when it happened and not asleep somewhere in another room. I'd just hate the notion of my being alive for that moment and missing it! lol

29. The champagne is chilling in the fridge now

and we are chilling in the house which is chilling in the great deep freeze at the center of the nation. We are gonna be so chilled out and joyful by Tuesday.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use my VCR with a satellite receiver and a teevee that has specific video channels. Any ideas? Could use some help with recording this great day.
