Comcast launches all-Obama channel
Edited on Tue Jan-13-09 06:21 PM by ClarkUSA
No biggie, but this is something I thought some DUers would enjoy knowing. I'll have to check what channel it is in my area.

Do you need Obama coverage 24 hours a day? In several markets, Comcast cable is launching an all-Obama, On Demand channel. (In D.C., it's channel 963).

Leading up to Inauguration, the channel will offer a number of Obama-related programs, according to a release: "Barack Obama’s most famous speeches to date, from his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 through his election night victory speech in Grant Park; Barack Obama biography; Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic National Convention speech; a tour of the White House; and the history of Air Force One."

Dish Network launched an all-Obama channel during the campaign.

I can't imagine Comcast doing this had McCain won the GE.

2. I hope that Comcast is bringing this to the Bay Area!
Edited on Tue Jan-13-09 06:30 PM by FrenchieCat
I have everything premium that Comcast has to offer.....and although I have been contemplating getting rid of some of it (cause it is costing me small monthly fortune), if that is in the offering, I would hold back on getting back to basics.

4. Call them and ask which channel it's on... just think of the ratings they'll get in CA!
I'm in the same place as you re: Comcast but now... :D

9. Well I did find the On Demand Election offerings, and one could choose
Dem or Republican....and in choosing Dem, many of the convention speeches were being offered. And yes, I looked for it againt at some point, and it was gone. Is that the one?

7. Too bad I can't stand Comcast
I long ago canceled their sorry ass cable service after I was told I would have to wait four days for those idiots to send a tech out to my house to fix my cable, after they disconnected my service when they were suppose to disconnect the neighbors. Sorry I don't put up with that shit.

12. Once in awhile, when reading things like this in the news, I pause and wonder about their reaction.
And then I smile broadly and go on.

15. Sorry to hear that.
Comcast must be targeting big media markets in pro-Obama states.

though, so I probably still wouldn't see it.

18. We found it by accident.
I dont even think they advertised. Kinda strange.

During the election though, it was just an info-mercial type thing playing over and over. You didnt miss much. :hi:

Thanks for making me feel better.

Isn't it great that we came this far since a year ago? Next time, New Hampshire Democrats will go Obama all the way. Fool me once...

So all's well that ends well. :toast:

BTW, I'm thinking of moving up to NH with my family in a year or so. :)

22. Its still my favorite of all his speeches.
I cant believe Rolling Stone left it out of their commemorative issue. Six of his "best" speeches and they leave that one out?! What the hell were they thinking?

NH. Don't move up here in the winter if you currently live somewhere warm. Imho, its rather hellish up here this time of year. brrr. Other than that though, NH is great - I'm probably biased because I grew up here. :) But, yes. You should come on up! :bounce: We have far few DUers 'round these parts. :hi: What part are you thinking of? The seacoast area totally rules.

24. Many journalists consider it his best ever, too. The man is a leader full of the poetry of Grace.
I have the commemorative Rolling Stone issue, too. I have a feeling the editors of RS are rocking to a different vibe --
maybe they didn't want to dwell on the bitter NH loss.

As for NH, what seacoast towns do you recommend? We are looking at farmsteads but am not picky. I like historic
properties, which makes NH easy to love. We are not in a hurry to move but are planning to sell our home when
the market gets better in 2010 after we make some needed upgrades. We're planning a trip to NH this summer
to take a look, though. :)
