Need a Job? "The Company" Is Hiring...Apparently...
Edited on Fri Jan-09-09 04:29 PM by ddeclue
The CIA is now advertising for job openings on CNN for their clandestine service.

They made it look like a generic positive corporate America job...of course they left out the part about assassinating the guy with the silencer gun while pretending to be the bus boy in the restaurant..

Perhaps they would do better to be more in the vein of a "mission impossible" type advertisement. I did think the military recruiting commercials that said something like "do something cool" that came out a year or two ago where they'd show somebody doing some sort of high adventure type thing like parachute jumping or flying a helicopter, etc. were interesting.

2. Don't forget the Census Bureau is hiring, too.
Temporary jobs, though.

Still good as a stopgap...

I apologized and told her. "I used to smoke a lot of marijuana once. I inhaled. I am not going to lie about it. They can hire the Mormons."

4. Regardless...
...of the desperate need for an overhaul and oversight....we still need the CIA.

Just because we have some murderous assholes in our government does not mean that we have to ignore the murderous assholes in other governments.

5. Didn't say that...I just felt the ad was a bit disingenuous
If you want to attract the right people for the job you should advertise appropriately.

The ad I saw would end up attracting a lot of corporate bureaucrats, not clandestine agents (unless of course they were going undercover as bureaucrats... )

7. I've a cousin who is retired from the CIA
She always had good things to say... when she could say:)

There are a lot of administrative positions... they aren't making widgets, and lots of intelligence can be gathered from a desk.

8. Well the commercial referred to the clandestine service..
which I can only assume to mean clandestine field agents, not desk-bound intelligence analysts.

10. Clandestine...
Only means held in great secrecy. I could easily label my own job clandestine because of the high level of confidentiality I work under.

15. Like I said...
It can easily be a clandestine, or secretive, desk job.

Actually, the CIA website says it best:

Careers at CIA
The CIA is the premier agency responsible for providing global intelligence on the ever-changing political, social, economic, technological and military environment. Here, your paramount goal and mission will be to protect the national security of the United States. Virtually any job you can imagine is available at the CIA — plus, some you can’t even imagine.

View our available career opportunities by visiting the following pages:

Analytical Positions
Clandestine Service
Language Positions
Scientists, Engineers and Technology

Support Services

https://www.cia.gov/careers/jobs/index.html

Under "Clandestine Service" there are two options: Field based and Washington based.

Looks like most of these positions require a degree or military training, but there are a lot of support and administrative positions... like I said.
