Blagojevich May Show Up At Obama Inauguration

As Governor, Blagojevich was given two tickets to the historic affair by the inauguration committee. But at this juncture, his office says, he's not sure whether or not he will make an appearance.

"I don't know if he is planning on going at this time," said the governor's spokesman, Lucio Guerrero. "I don't think that decision has been made."

Should Blagojevich show up, it could create an awkward and potentially distracting visual for the incoming administration. Obama has criticized the governor for allegedly implementing a pay-to-play scheme to fill his vacant Senate seat. He has called on Blagojevich to resign from office. In response to these and other condemnations, Blagojevich has struck a tone of defiance, not only staying in office but appointing Roland Burris to fill Obama's seat.

The friction has created its fair share of drama. If Blagojevich appears, some cable news networks could be expected to play up the Illinois Governor's reactions during the inaugural ceremony.

Of course, by then this could be a moot point. The Illinois House could vote on articles of impeachment for the governor as early as Wednesday, when the impeachment panel comes back in session.
