John Boehner. I wish someone in Congress would call on the Repubs. to use the CORRECT term-the Democratic party-or get punished in some way.

4. They started saying that back in the 1970s and they do it because they know it bugs us.
I wish that Democrats would start calling their colleagues across the aisle the "Republics" with the emphasis on the second syllable, sort of slurred so it sounds like "Repugligs" but they don't.

13. They're getting away with torture, murder, illegal invasions, ripping the constitution
...and you hope to enforce basic rules of etiquette? That cause was lost the day the Democrats accepted Dick Cheney saying "Fuck you" to them on the floor of the senate.

20. No, they started it back in the 1950s. It was a Roy Cohn brainstorm.
Back in the sleaziest days of the HUAC hearings, it was a way of getting at the Dems, who weren't falling into line fast enough.

Once Joe McCarthy, Roy Cohn, and their sleazy pals were gone, there was an effort by the GOPpies to act like adults. They managed to keep it up for quite a while, too.

Of course, that was back before it was impossible to be a GOPpie if your IQ was larger than your belt size.

informatively,
Bright

45. doubtful ...
I'm sure the "liberal media" would paint this as "unique" and partisan, without noting that the Repukes did it within their own party.

Maybe the "Democrat party" should copyright it, and force them to pay each time they use the term ...

15. a KO special comment
Some time in early 2008 I remember Keith Olbermann was delivering his awesome SPECIAL COMMENT on a GWB speech and said; "It's DEMOCRATIC. Show a little RESPECT." In a very stern, pissed off, looking right into the camera tone.

The term "democrat" in place of democratic is a term I find offensive. It's a Republican dog whistle kind of message they insist on throwing in when ever they can.

Keep it up REPUBS, you're doing GREAT!

It's not a bad word. I really don't see what the fuss is about. Who cares that he calls them Democrat colleagues? Who cares that he uses bad grammar? I don't see why people are offended that he didn't put an IC on the end.

32. It is sad, but it is true.
I think it sucks, it grates me to hear it.

However, the words "Democrat" and "Democratic" are two distinct parts of speech, we can't play turnabout with "Republican", which as one word may serve either as a noun or an adjective.

25. Here's a bit of interesting repuke history on this.
The entire artilce is intersting in a train wreck sort of way.

http://colorado.mediamatters.org/items/200610250005

>>In his article, Hertzberg also noted that "among those of the Republican persuasion," the use of " 'Democrat Party' is now nearly universal" thanks to "Newt Gingrich, the nominal author of the notorious 1990 memo 'Language: A Key Mechanism of Control,' and his Contract with America pollster, Frank Luntz." While Hertzberg noted that Luntz "road-tested the adjectival use of 'Democrat' with a focus group in 2001" and "concluded that the only people who really dislike it are highly partisan adherents of the ... Democratic Party," he also wrote that Luntz had told him recently that "hose two letters <'ic'> actually do matter," and that Luntz "recently finished writing a book ... entitled 'Words That Work.' "<<

they should have spent more time actually governing, than sniffing Frank Luntz's keyboard for the best words to manipulate us. ;-)

There are only two words they have to remember now: "President Obama." :patriot:

47. Luntz
I think Frank Luntz main legacy for his life will be setting back the effort to fight global warming back twenty years almost single handedly.

He's the guy that engineered the misinformation campaign that global warming was just a theory with no consensus in the scientific community.

This is a little incorrect, as I think the "scientific community" is about 99.9% in agreement that global warming is real and is happening RIGHT NOW.

Sorry, all you unborn, for the crappy world we're leaving you. Take comfort in knowing IT WASN'T MY FAULT!
