These committees are currently part of the transition team process. I believe they will play a much bigger role after inauguration, since they fit Obama's style of getting various points of view before making decisions.

The major problem I see down the road is where does the Cabinet appointees fit. Do they head these advisory boards or are they just minor players.

The answer is probably still being worked out and I expect several more withdrawals.
