I guess on the bright side, President-elect Obama is standing his ground on the Warren deal....
despite many believing it is the wrong thing to do.

This stands in direct contrast to the current guy.

3. Obama made a statement?
I heard something a few days..what was it 4-5(?), when the shit-storm first started, but I didn't know he had addressed it. What did he say?

4. At this point he's better off sticking with his choice
He'd look wishy washy if he backed down. He needs to appear strong and decisive, and he certainly doesn't want to set a precedent for his opinions being second guessed and allowing himself to be pushed around.

His best option is to stick with Warren but make it very clear that his opinion about homosexuality differs significantly from his.

16. (Obama) "needs to appear strong and decisive." At the expense of a marginalized group?
We call that bullying, gay bashing, where I come from.

24. Yes, he would appear wishy washy and wimpy if he backed down every time someone
didn't like his choices or what he did or said. Obama could do the right thing, though, and let DU make all of his decisions for him because then we would have perfection.

worshiping was a "HUGE" problem compared to unleashing nukes upon the world.

I disagree, but he isn't likely to change his mind. Hopefully this will be the last 2 minutes they get until they stop discriminating and hating.

We had 8 years of staying the course. We don't need anymore of that!

27. I tend to agree, too. I think he wanted the "RW cred", to be honest.
I'll wait it out to see if he caves, but I'd be surprised if he did. We'll see. If he did, he'd get Warren to withdraw with some statement about not wanting to disrupt such a historic event, blah blah etc, and in the meantime, no universal health care and troop buildup in Afghanistan and another day in the empire.

28. I don't think Obama can unshit the bed this time.
Withdrawing makes him look weak, and as I said, I think the purpose of this abomination is to piss off the parts of his base that the wingnuts find most frightening.

Classic triangulation. Dick Morris is surely very impressed.
