Hey neighbors! • We're trying to turn around a full-steam-ahead aircraft carrier ...
in a narrow, hurricane swollen and raging river. The ship of state is huge; the path ahead perilous. The storm continues unabated.

The captain & crew don't work for us. Come inauguration day, way too many of the captains and crews won't be taking orders from us.

A very very small number of them, the political appointees, will "leave government" – they will land, ever so softly, back on the profiteer gravy-train, where paid-big-time to play is a pillar beside the front door of their temple. In the undisclosed locations of the shadow government, their agendas will only sharpen, their efforts redoubled.

Let's not be naive about this. We face nothing less than the same task sought throughout history by we the people: to throw off the shackles of tyranny, exploitation and fascism in it's many many disguises. Permanent war and imperialism remain too damn profitable, and unaccountable.

"Tonight because of you, change has come!" Well, it sure was a sweet but fleeting moment. How soon until we and our sister citizens across the globe experience such exuberance again? We hunger in anticipation.

Patience & perseverance, neighbors. We must keep our eyes on the larger prizes. Carrots and sticks must guide our citizen lobbying. We have to work twice as hard as the over-paid forces of reaction and status quo. Better ideas, tested and continuously improving, must be our vanguard.
