What will happen when warren addresses the obama crowd
Will he be booed? Will the crowd turn their backs on him? I don't see how this is going to turn out any other way. Yea, the guy will be praying. Will their be signs? Gay flags?

1. I don't think flags and signs are allowed,
so it may be some boos?

2. Not a thing probably. He will talk/pray, he'll be gone. And I bet the majority
of the crowd aren't even aware of the controversy, or don't care.

4. Oh I am writing Change.gov to let the Obama team I will not be watching the inauguration
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 10:17 AM by Sarah Ibarruri
This is plain wrong. I was going to have a get-together for a few of us. Instead, I think I'll take my mom and dad to the movies or something.

8. That's my take on it
since Obama has basically told the GLBT community they have a seat at the table.

He just failed to tell them that Warren sits at the adult's table and GLBT people sit in the other room at the kids table where they can be safely ignored.

28. Well, I have to confess: Under any circumstances it's fun to see drag queen heels flying through
the air. This time there's just a good target.

7. I'm sure there will be booing and/ or turning of backs. Within the roped off
section, no signs.. But I'm sure on the mall their will be flags and support.

11. booing... but then again...
When the electorate sees what a rude pissy bunch "progressives" are they'll lose what little credibility they've gained.

13. The won't allow signs or flags, I am sure.
I predict, Rick Warren will get a standing ovation.

Don't believe me?

Bet ya two  (my favorite smiley) he gets cheered for by the crowd.

16. Maybe he'll be praying to an empty room or only to members of his congregation
It's still acceptable to not attend a function. Protest is still a right in spite of Bush's and Cheney's best efforts.

17. It won't be an address.
It will be a prayer, and people normally do not either clap or boo after a prayer.

19. We have a tradition
When the Phelps 'church' picketed the funerals of those who died of AIDS in the 1980's-1990's - and they travelled around the country to do so - we always turned our backs on their verbal taunting and "GOD HATES FAGS" signs.

Isn't it amazing that in all those years we never just beat the shit out of one of the Phelps goons?

Or take the Pride parade in San Francisco. It always brings out fundies on the street corners screeching that we're damned to hell, we're perverts, blah blah blah. We turn our backs on them.

We're very used to this nauseating behavior and people thinking that they have the need to tell us - total strangers - exactly what they think of our lives. Bet most people here have never had to experience that. We do all the time. And we turn our backs on them.

and will alienate even those less-troubled by the LGBT firestorm about Warren. You were warned!

Expect something about "preserving the American family, the bulwark on which our freedom depends" or some such crap.

25. Warren will officially become America's Pastor, a position
for which he has been campaigning for some time now, but so far without quite reaching that exalted height.

How ironic that it was a Democrat who put him over the top!
