Why I'm mad right now
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 03:36 AM by Jake3463
I want to qualify this before so some of the Obama worshippers and yes some of you on here are worshippers in a cult of personality not supporters that at 1pm today I'm helping my mother host a Healthcare forum for her work for Change.gov to get input for the transition team. As many of you know I was a team leader and facilitating these type of meetings has become a skill I've acquired. So lob your accusations and insults I don't freaking care. I'm actually doing my best to help and some of the worshippers on here I suspect limit their worship to attacking people who do the work but are willing to question.

The wind has been taken out of my sails alot the last 3 days. I was so fired up. I was ready to crawl through broken glass for this man. I actually believed. Right now I'm left with alot of doubt. Friends of mine have been slapped in the face and the reasoning both politically and strategically does not make any sense. We are winning. Demographics are on our side. The Evangelicals are shrinking and the younger generation is starting to reject the ideas of people like Warren. Victory would eventually be in our hands on not just civil rights but a whole range of issues. Than I see the ugly face of Triangulation.

If anyone on here actually believes Warren supports climate change and global aids issues on anything more than strategic reasons I would love to tell you about a 25 million dollar inheritance you won in Hong Kong. I just need your checking account information. Warren is not stupid. He sees the demographic shift as well and understands that in order to get the youth into his pews he has to offfer some progressive idealogy. Paying some lip service to climate change or AIDS allows him to present himself as a "liberal" while holding onto all the social issues and by honoring him at the Inaguration he gets away with it. We allow them to co-opt badly some of our issues and they keep the majority of theirs. Warren is triangulating as well in the culture wars and it looks like an alliance is being formed to help install him on top of this new fundamentalism. Barack honoring him during his inaguration gives him a selling point to the place he desires to get into the most. The youth.

What makes me the angriest is a group that is always...always thrown under the bus and yet always still comes out to vote for the democrats is the group that is being used as a fall guy in this triangulation strategy and the group that is being asked to just take it. I do believe that Obama will do better things for this group than any other President to date however, I also believed they are being used to show his courage in standing up to his base. I'm beginning to believe this was less naivete and stupidity as pure political calculation. If I wanted this type of politics there was a candidate on the ballot whose husband engaged in it and she paid for it during the primaries. If I've been had shame on me but it won't happen again.

1. I'm not mad and I don't allow anybody or anything to take the wind out of my sails.
That is, when there is wind in my sails. It appears that we have an imperfect president. I wonder where we could have found the perfect one, the one who agrees with everything I believe?

3. This is illogical: "Obama will do better things for this group than any other President to date "
So how are you being thrown under a bus? Because of symbolic politics?

At the end of the day, most of us want the political and economic goodies, not the symbols. Symbols are for stupid people, like the Fundies.

Grow up.

4. You know what!
FUCK YOU AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO TELL ME TO GROW UP.

I actually believed in this guy, that he wasn't Bill Clinton with a tan and I was fucking wrong and I'm going through some mourning right now because to be honest the only reason I didn't support Hillary Clinton was because I believed Obama was different.

5. Oh yeah and BTW
I'm not gay. I'm pissed because he's allowing Warren to become the next Billy Graham when one Billy Graham was enough.
