I now Wish We Had Voted For McCain. We'd All Be United Again.
And crying and weeping and wailing, but at least with each other. Jeez Loueeze, I'm getting sick of the crap flying here.

Nobody wants to give Obama a chance to govern. Let's just impeach the bastard before he takes the oath of office.

At least with McCain you all could have righteous indignation as opposed to the bullshit indignation going on now.

Flame me. I don't give a damn anymore. This place is ridiculous.

12. I share the sentiment. Obama is pro gay rights, Warren or no Warren....
...yet some people look for every reason in the world to not be happy.

To hell with the important stuff like actual gay rights legislations like protecting gays from hate crimes, getting rid of don't ask don't tell and protecting gays from suffering job discrimination.

To hell with fixing our economy that is falling apart.

To hell with restoring other broken freedoms that occurred under the Bush administration.

To hell with restoring our standing with the rest of the world.

A evangelical preacher with an evangelical ideology giving a 2 minute prayer at the inauguration, an event that will have zero impact on our actualy lives, is whats REALLY important.

23. Thats his religion. He still supports giving gays the same thing.
If we have to call it something different in order to get it pushed through, thats fine by me. We can fight for the right to call it marriage after the fact. But gay people need those rights NOW.

You can bitch and moan about the semantics of it all you want. Wanting to give gays the same rights as well as being a staunch supporter of protecting homosexuals from job discrimination and hate crimes means that you DO support gay rights. You simply can't prove otherwise no matter how hard you try.

42. So what if it's his religion?
If calling it marriage makes him squeamish, then he's a homophobe.

We have a secular government, founded on a secular constitution, and guided by secular laws. Religion should not factor into the equation.

Let's expand on Obama's proposal of a separate institution in place of same-sex marriage. Why stop there? Let's put LGBT children in separate schools and designate separate bathrooms and drinking fountains for LGBT use. Sound familiar? Separate rights are not equal rights.

Obama supports separate rights, not equal rights.

Democrats fight. It's what we do in our infamous Circular Firing Squads. If you can't take it, duck and cover. It can get pretty heated. I know. I've seen it for years and years now.

In time, you too will be an old pro at the Circular Firing Squad. In the meantime, you might want leave the kitchen, take a chill pill, and watch from the sidelines.

21. A one minute prayer and people are being kicked off the site because they don't want Obama impeached
over it before he even takes office. Very disappointing.

And, yes, I do oppose inviting Warren to give the invocation and do think he's a homophobe - but, hey, I didn't win the election. Just like I wouldn't have invited Billy Graham to give the invocation back in 1993....oops, better not say the slightest little thing critical of the Clinton's. Slamming Obama is just fine, but you'll get your comments deleted without cause if you say the tiniest little thing critical of them.

25. I think that the discussion is healthy.....
and Rick Warren being defined as something other than what he has been defined before he was chosen
is not neccessarily a bad thing. It could be an opportunity to have some who didn't know much about Rick Warren except for what they had been told in the media (many who may have read his book) become more educated about why the Gay Community are upset about him. This will wake up a few.

In terms of him being allowed to speak, although he wasn't on my list whatsoever (I'd prefer Jim Wallis had been chosen), I can see how Obama sees it, that Warren may provide Obama with the audience that needs to be reached the most. I don't know what Warren is going to say when he speaks, and so I have to wait for that. If Warren says that we are all created equal no matter what...that's a message that may be constructive to those who need to hear it the most, and who are willing to accept it from this particular messenger. I also have to wait to hear Obama's speech to hear the message he has for this country.

I don't mind waiting to see what happens, as I have been waiting for 8 years.....
Patience is a virtue, and I'm going to have it.

So I agree with you.....but I believe that the discourse that is going on here is a good thing.

36. While I dont wish we had voted for mcsame... not even close
I do agree this place has become a cesspool. I have never seen this much whining in my 5 or 6 years of coming here.

It is beyond ridiculous. The man has not even had one day in office and half the people on this place seem ready to declare his presidency a failure. Sadly with a dem administration this place will die a slow death if the last two weeks of crybaby posts are any indication.

5 years or more of seeking this place as a refuge from the horrors of bush thinking there were like minded people here that saw him for what he was and now I am starting to think its just filled with people who like to bitch about everything and maybe it had nothing to do with bush whatsoever.

Its Sad at a time when we should be celebrating instead all that has been on here for the last few weeks is constant attacks on our new administration for any possible slight that can be found n matter how specious that criticism is.

They say its a big tent but .....WTF?
