Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 10:58 AM by Eric J in MN
...and then there will be about 10 days of Rejected Absentee Ballots being reviewed.

Then certification around January 1.

Then more lawsuits.

33. Probably not. It's darn hard to make up a blowout.
The only reasons it was close in the general were:

1. Barack Obama's presence on the ballot bringing African-Americans and young voters to the polls, and
2. Libertarians sucking up conservative votes.

Franken has withdrawn more challenges than Coleman which would mean more votes for Coleman.

Nate Silver is estimating that Franken has close to 400 more withdrawn challenges.

So Al Franken is still down by about 300 votes as we speak. He may still have the lead by the day's end but it will be very small.

and everybody on DU will celebrating not factoring in the number of withdrawn challenges. ;-)

Coleman is challenging more votes because he knows that his lead is no good.

59. are you 100% sure because yesterday it seemed to me that they were
voting on withdrawn challenges.

The Star Tribune is projecting a Franken win by something like 89 votes.

In any case the uncounted absentee votes will probably decide it. Do you have an idea of how many those they are.

BTW they just voted on two ballots that were withdrawn by Franken.

66. One thing that I know
This tally does not include the number of withdrawn challenges. They do not have a clear idea how many challenges were withdrawn from either side.

Franken should be ahead by the day's end and the absentee ballots may put his lead in triple digits.

there are a bunch of withdrawn challenges that need to be readded, and Coleman stands to gain 300-400 votes from that, and after that they still need to decide how to count improperly-rejected ballots...

The ones that they are not counting are the Blue and Green file ballots.

The largest number of these are originals without duplicats.

Why do you think that they are not counting withdrawn challenges?

109. Typical Republican tactic a la 2000
If you think you're there's a chance of losing by counting all of the ballots stop the recount and quit while you're ahead. Literally.

111. BREAKING: BILL O'REILLY'S HEAD EXPLODES!
The Fox News commentator, upon hearing of the Franken victory let loose a maddened, anguished scream followed by an ear-shattering explosion, which apparaently splattered E.D. Hill with several gallons of Fecal Matter (as if we had any doubt what he had in his head)
Mr. O'Reilly is currently resting comfortably in the hospital, with a falafel drip to keep him sedated.
