His (and the repugs') hate for Unions and the American worker who can make good enough wages to enter the middle class, is going to finish one of the few manufacturing industries left in the United States. "Free" trade and the industry's management got them where they are today. It is so sad.
I have not liked the industry per se (they battled CAFE standards, innovation, and change every step of the way) but that is not the workers' fault.

1. Never let a crisis go to waste

They won't let the companies fail, they really can't. But, here they have the opportunity to bust up one of the most powerful unions, they can't pass that up either.

Saving the industry isn't the objective. That must happen one way or another anyway. Busting the union is the real goal here. I don't know if they will succeed or not, they've gotten further than I thought they would already.
