I've been posting this for the last two days. Maybe NOW you'll believe me.
Little Ricky Warren got his EGO STROKED. That SIDELINES him as a THREAT. That's why Barack Obama...the man YOU elected as President...did this.

It's ALL ABOUT RICK WARREN'S EGO, and taking him out of the big picture. But don't take MY word for it...

Rick Warren Praises Obama's "Courage" For Taking "Enormous Heat From His Base"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/18/rick-warren-praises-obama_n_152253.html

Here is Rick Warren's statement praising Obama for his "courage" in picking the pastor to deliver the invocation at the inauguration despite criticism of the president-elect due to Warren's opposition to gay marriage:

I commend President-elect Obama for his courage to willingly take enormous heat from his base by inviting someone like me, with whom he doesn't agree on every issue, to offer the Invocation at his historic Inaugural ceremony.

Hopefully individuals passionately expressing opinions from the left and the right will recognize that both of us have shown a commitment to model civility in America.

The Bible admonishes us to pray for our leaders. I am honored by this opportunity to pray God's blessing on the office of the President and its current and future inhabitant, asking the Lord to provide wisdom to America's leaders during this critical time in our nation's history.

5. Will he stop with just Barack?
I'm thinking somebody needs to keep a close watch on the rest of the family.

2. well, yes it IS all about that fundie tool's ego.
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 09:25 PM by musette_sf
it's not about Obama or his supporters at all.

if Warren were REALLY a man of God, he would have declined the invitation. he would have told Obama that though he was flattered by the invitation, that the day was really for the whole country to celebrate, and not an opportunity for him to grandstand.

if Warren were Obama's real friend, he would say that his presence might put a chill on the day for Obama's gay and woman supporters, and that he respected Obama enough to not get in the way on such an important day.

but he's just a big egotistical tool.

When was the last time a mega church preacher turned down a slot to be the show?

Oh he's gonna go away, quiet like a mouse.

Jesus, sometimes it's just like freaking planet crazy.

6. "model civility"
That means he doesn't use curse words while he is taking away fundamental human rights?

And Obama is being civil right back as he smiles while slipping the shiv into the backs of some of his most ardent supporters.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Obama is not "neutralizing" this ass clown, he is anointing him as the next Billy Graham, pastor to the nation.

Pardon me while I :puke:

7. I agree. And Obama is granting him a platform that shows "respect" for his opinions.
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 09:40 PM by saracat
He might as well also " respect" the diversity of the KKK. I assume he doesn't agree with them either. I don't feel ALL "opinions" are worthy of respect and in any event Civil Rights for all is not just an "opinion".

9. Fuck his ego. Let someone else stroke it.
If I wanted someone in office to stroke fundie egos, I'd have voted McCain.
