Yes, I think you will do great things for LGBT Americans and I while I dont agree with your choice of Warren, I'm not going to destroy you over this because this has nothing to do with how you will run this country...BUT

But, you as long as you and others in Washington are against gay marriage, which there a lot of, even in The Democratic Party, yyou are not a fierce advocate for LGBT rights at all.

I can never understand why so many of our democratic leaders like Biden and Clinton are against gay marriage. I really would have thought they were better than this.

3. Did he ever claim to be a "Fierce Advocate"?
I didn't pay that much attention to the Campaign Season, but I am sure I would have seen that on DU.

10. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I wasn't attempting to play Devil's Advocate, I simply wanted to know.

8. One of his reactions to the Warren issue was claiming to be a "Fierce Advocate"
Straight from his mouth, so to speak.

4. "I can never understand why so many of our democratic leaders ... are against gay marriage."
Political expediency (or political cowardice, if you will). ....... As long as they perceive the majority of Americans to be against same-sex marriage, they won't endorse it. What they fail to realize is that they can set the tone. A charismatic leader can pull people (not the die-hard bigots obviously) along with him/her.

about choosing Warren are destroying Obama? Have you even considered the possibility that Obama not only expected this response, but that he was aiming for it?

edit spelling

11. Can't see how he wouldn't have predicted this response..
I'm still not sure what exactly he's aiming at, but I assume that one of his first big issues after being inaugurated will be something that he needs to pick off some evangelical/conservative support for. Maybe it's health care, which evangelicals are not really hostile to.

But still.. getting your liberal base all riled up accomplishes the "standing up the party" and "reaching out" feel.

7. A majority of people in this country oppose gay marriage
From kentucky to florida to california, people have voted to take certain rights away from gays with gay marriage bans. It's sad, but it's reality.

Our leaders say they oppose gay marriage because they want to be elected.

A majority of this country seems to oppose gay marriage and it would be political suicide to come out and support it.

That's why politicians like Obama, Hillary and Biden come out oppose gay marriage. Deep down I'm sure they know it's wrong, but politicians want to get elected.

12. Thats an unacceptable reason
You think its okay to lie about what you believe in something as important as this to get votes? I think thats kind of spineless.
