Why I Am Sure We Are Winning
We canvassed several blocks in my precinct today, in suburban Detroit.

This precinct went for Al Gore in 2000, by about 55%-45%.

The results we found today, and have been finding consistently here, is that the precinct is backing Kerry by about 80%-20%.

I doubt this is an anomaly. We are a working class, lower middle income precinct, the kind of place that was very "Reagan Democrat" a few years ago.

If this is true here, it is most likely true throughout similar working class suburbs, not just in Detroit, but in places like Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee as well.

You can believe the media's polls if you want, I'm putting my faith in what I am hearing straight from the voters.

3. Go Detroit!
I think the key to winning the election is to get out the vote.

7. Encouraged in Arkansas, too!
Just came back from an organizing meeting for Dem volunteers. Turnout was twice what was expected and the enthusiasm was palpable. At the meeting, it was announced that the same high turnout was happening all over the state today. The biggest problem the Kerry Campaign guy had was trying to keep people convinced that there WAS a plan underway. Everyone was champing at the bit.

One perceived problem, though: almost no young people (under 25) were there. In fact, the representative of the Kerry Campaign
was possibly the youngest person in the room. Boy, things sure were different back in '68.

Anyway, my point is that Democrats in Arkansas seem never to have been more united and committed. We are definitely a swing state and if we work hard enough, we CAN swing the vote the right way.

Remember that jackass? He was a state senator or something.

He's a state Rep. I wish he'd run against Sandy Levin again, it's always fun to beat the snot out of him. (Levin has kicked his ass twice)

12. My own observation on why I think we are winning...
I live in a total Repub area of Tampa and in the past, one would see * bumper stickers and yard signs. This year - not a ONE yard sign for * and this is the cool part...only saw ONE * bumper stickers and 4 Kerry/Edwards stickers...Yeah, we are going to do it!

14. It could be that the TANG attacks are really helping us.
Bush's character really is taking some hits, here, and when it does, all of the things that he has done are seen in a different light.

So let's keep up the good work. We're hurting him.

16. They may be, but
The dynamics here were the same when we first started canvassing a couple of weeks ago, so I think there is something more fundamental going on.

My theory is that the social conservatives in areas like this are finally waking up to the fact that they have been voting against their own economic interests by supporting the GOP.

15. In Missouri here
and I'm surprised at the lack of Bush bumper stickers. Last year you couldn't drive 3 feet without seeing many many bumpers stickers.

They are either NOT proud of him....Confused about him or don't care.

Every now and then it makes me feel a huge pull to a landslide!

17. Oregon is the bag too
I have never seen so many volunteers coming to help.
Also, people that know me and know I am involved in the democratic party
are calling me to ask how to help. Even CATHOLICS...

We need to keep the work up, even if the media keeps telling us we are losing.
They will be the ones surprised on November 3rd...

18. I'm in Rochester Hills, my wife and I have stickers
I got a house pack and am handing it out to supporters, I'm bringing whatever's left to the next meetup. By bumper stickers, this area is about 50/50 right now

19. That's great news
If we can break even up there and win convincingly here in the 12th district, we will carry Oakland County. And Bush doesn't have a prayer of winning Michigan if we do!

20. Why I'm not sure we are winning..
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 10:22 PM by flaminbats
My support for Kerry/Edwards is three times as strong as it was for Gore/Lieberman.

I encountered a woman my age today who seemed to be leaning toward supporting Kerry, but appeared to have mixed feelings about the candidate. She worried about voting for Kerry because of her children's future. Then I asked her, what she would do if one of them got an expensive medical problem? She said that her biggest fear is that Kerry might put us in a Canadian type system and ration care to her children. I told her that Canada had great healthcare, but that Kerry would allow the uninsured to buy into the FEHBP. Then she insisted that rationing would become a problem!

Later I brought up the War in Iraq, and she repeated the flip-flop line regarding his vote. I brought up the record deficits under Bush and she brought flip-flops again with Kerry linking them to his voting record. Hearing nothing specific, just the same damned line repeated..gets somewhat tiring after half an hour. Eventually I told her to vote for whomever she wants..because I didn't really care much longer!

More and more people are becoming like this. If they are Bush people they want to just screw with your mind and depress you...but why? Real swing voters don't talk much, and if they do...they probably aren't real swing voters so be on the look out dear friends.. ;)

but just reading the posts here can lift me from the dumps!

21. Being Positive Is Half The Battle
As Dean said, we have the power. We must use it and be unstoppable. We must fight hard for our democracy.

We must literally hyptnotize ourselve into a winning attitude. And like Mohammed Ali, we must psyche out our opponent. Also, winning will include the visualization of a knockout.

That is why I launched a NEW flash Animation:

The Final Encounter - Rocky vs. The Lyin' King. Check out this great new flash animation game. Click the link below...

Pass it on...And remember we are all Rocky

Love,
