Does Morning Joe think NYC Christmas crowds represent the entire country?
This morning they are talking about throngs of people out shopping in NYC. They should get out more.

1. Perhaps he ought to come on down to his old state of Florida.
The shelves are stocked, the prices are already marked down 50-70% off on everything, and shopping is like going into a ghost town. Its like going shopping on a Tuesday in the middle of June.

2. That is how it is in Tennessee, too.
Everybody I know is cutting back on Christmas spending and parties are being cancelled.

5. Lots of international tourists in NY
Last month was one of the busiest NYC tourism months ever in NYC, with out-of-towners, including many international tourists, stopping by information booths in Grand Central at a record pace.

However, in parts of NYC (read "out boroughs"), I have personally seen empty stores during peak days, even with all the bargains that were to be found.

6. Same thing here in NJ - 45 minutes out of NYC
Though this is an affluent area the malls are definitely not packed as they typically are this time of year. This scares me as many companies typically do a huge part of their sales in this time of year.

8. I wonder what the statistics are nationwide.
Morning Joe is not the pulse of the nation.
