Daily tracking polls: So far, no hit to Obama popularity from Blago crap
Probably too soon to tell...these things take a few days to sink in. But so far, the Gallup daily has "confidence in Obama" unchanged at 65%, and 71% favorable, up a point from yesterday. Rasmussen has his job approval unchanged at 67%. It'll be interesting to see if he takes a hit in the next few days. I really hope not, but the way the media is playing this thing I'm a little worried...we don't have enough surrogates out there making it clear that Obama had nothing to do with Blagojevich's scheming and is not accused of any wrongdoing.

It's not like the Republicans can undo the election, but if they taint Obama with this and knock him down a bit from his post-election sky-high popularity, it narrows the possibilities for what Obama can get done once he takes office. These tracking polls are mostly but not entirely meaningless, and I think it'll be at least interesting to watch for the next few days.

Here are the polls, in case anyone is interested:

1. THe average person won't pay attention to this story.
Aside from that I believe that Obama will come to be known as teflon.

The reason is the pukes are going to build a franchise on trying to tear him down. But, he is too careful and too smart to get tied into anything stinky. He is always looking down the line several moves, and knows who to avoid, and when to move.

He will come out of this as smoothly as he did from the smear attempts during the campaign. Nothing will hurt Obama except what he self inflicts. And, he has great self control.

2. Also, the nonsense with the BC has shown the repukes to be the slime
they really are and sore losers. The thinking public will see right through it (I'm hoping)...

3. Oy - tracking polls
I thought we were done with these for a while but I appreciate that we need to keep an eye on what's going on. Thanks for the update and I look forward to seeing what the next few days bring.

6. Most people are burnt out on politics and aren't paying much attention
...or else they're trying to stretch their finances to at least have a good holiday for their children.

As for those of us who ARE paying attention, we're engaged enough to have heard how Blago called Obama an "uncooperative MF'er" so I doubt any attempt by the freepers to tarnish the PE with this will fail spectacularly--kinda like everything else they've tried in the last 2 years!

7. Oh God. No. Please no more tracking polls.
Eleven months of tracking polls have turned my brain to jelly--I'm fucking DONE with tracking polls.
