The media is trying there best to link Obama to the Illinois Governor's scandle
When there isn't any proof and in fact from the sound of it this Governor really doesn't care for Obama. But that's not what the media is going to tell us.

9. They are discussing a breaking news story, and a very juicy
one at that.

I've been back and forth all night on several cable channels and have heard nothing said that would imply Obama is in any way involved.

Wait a few days for the dust to settle and then see where it goes.

6. they replayed the "Obama is a dirty Chicago pol"
McCain commercial on Hardball earlier, and did not mention the whole hour the gov's apparent comments about Obama...I was glad that Shuster mentioned it on Race for the White House though.

8. The only thing that bothered me was Axelrod's flip flop
Edited on Tue Dec-09-08 08:38 PM by golpe
He first said he knew that Obama had spoken to Blago about his replacement in the senate. Now he says he "misspoke".

I don't see anything wrong in Obama's behavior. Why then did Axelrod backtrack?

10. he said that a while ago. Maybe he didn't know that they hadn't spoken? Who knows.

Politico is also dredging up some op ed that Axelrod wrote (edit: in 2005), but I didn't read the entry so I'm not sure why Politico thinks it should matter. Someone else is free to look at it and report back if they want.

12. "Talking about it" didn't necessarily mean that Obama was talking personally to the Gov....
and Axelrod being asked again would have had him clarify what he meant initially.

It's the difference between Obama saying "We" (as in the campaign, made up of multiple people) versus saying "I", meaning him.

Axelrod may have initially answered the question more casually, and meant someone in the Obama camp....not so much Obama himself.

Guess if the phones were tapped, Obama should personally show up in there somewhere.

17. Axelrod said "he talk TO the governor"
The word about was not mentioned. Axelrod said Obama "talked to the governor". See statement at 1 minute 20 seconds:

18. I know what was said, and my statement still stands.
Again, evidence speaks louder than words. The tapes will tell the tale....regardless of what someone casually said.

16. Keith was fine.
But Chris Matthews was a little bit eager, and he did not mention the entire time that the gov said "fuck them"...though for their credit, Lynn Sweet and Jill Zuckman said that everyone in Chicago knows that the gov and Obama are not close.
