Poll question: How do you feel about your Senators?
I hate both Dole and Burr but Dole lost so I am so very happy. But as Dole is still my Senator I voted Hate both.

27. Casey is really starting to impress me.
I wasn't too excited when I volunteered for him two years ago, but he's been pretty great lately. I talked to him recently, and he seems sincere in wanting to do his best for the country. Besides, he was an awesome surrogate for Obama.
I'll have to vote -- Love Casey, can't wait to get rid of Specter.

and both have been known to vote with Bush a lot. I'm hoping to see a shift to the left on things like reproductive rights and gay rights, but I'm not holding my breath. Arkansas just passed a horrific anti-child amendment that keeps any non-married couple from fostering/adopting kids so that gays are denied this right. Made me sick.

86. I like both of mine - especially Lautenberg
Have you ever met Lautenberg? I met him at a Democratic party event in support of Menendez in Morris County. He was very good - especially when he was just talking informally. For example, one couple said hello and mentioned that their family, like his, came from Patterson NJ. He then spoke of the things in Patterson which moved him to enter public life. He spoke of his dad and other older relatives working in the silk mills of Patterson, in the days before any OSHA standards. His dad pushed him to excel in school and told him that he didn't want him to work in the mills - because he knew it had to be unhealthy because you could see the air wasn't clean. His dad, like many other workers died young, at 45. Lautenberg then spoke of how unions changed this. (He ended up fighting in WWII and going to college on the GI bill.) This was not part of his speech - it was just speaking to people, but a crowd quickly gathered to listen and he was spellbinding.

I may have some of the details wrong - this was (obviously) fall 2006 and I didn't write anything down then.

So, in addition to being the guy who brought in a poster of a chickenhawk, he is a very progressive, liberal Democrat.

I like them both. Both voted against the Iraq war and both voted against FISA. Stabenow voted against the 700 billion which looking back was the correct decision. I believe they both are fighting for the US automakers which also makes me happy. I saw Stabenow on Rachel Maddow's show and she did a great job of defending the automakers. Overall, I think I have two very good Senators representing my state.

74. Other: there's a lot of ground between "love," "hate," and "neutral."
Wyden: more positive than not, but don't "love" him. "Like" him most of the time.

Merkely: He just got elected, hasn't served. Time will tell. I hope to "like" him, as well.

Smith: On his way out, and I'm glad. I don't "hate" him. I think "hate" is destructive and counterproductive. I am filled with satisfaction that he's been evicted, I strongly opposed him as my Senator.

79. Boxer is Good; Feinstein Bleccchhh
Feinstein's husband, Richard Blum, is a no-bid contract war profiter.
