LOL! Mike Duncan, RNC Chairman, just said, about the win of Chambliss, in the RED state of GA,
"It's the beginning of the resurgence of the Republican party." And he said it with a straight face! On MSNBC.

1. i saw that
that's why I'm wondering about 2010.

So far in the last two election cycles, the only Democrats to lose Senate seats have done so for a higher position (ie Obama, Biden, Clinton).

I am just wondering if any of the Democrats up for re-election in 2010 are in danger.

3. We'll see how Congress does its job under President Obama. If they get
things accomplished, I doubt ANY of them will be in danger. Chambliss's win was WIDELY expected. This HARDLY signals the beginning of any Repub. resurgence.

7. How have the democrats lost senate seats in Illinois, Delaware and New York?
All 3 of those seats will be replaced by, well, more democrats. Delaware already announced their replacement with Biden former Chief of Staff Ted Kaufman who is another Democrat. Mind you, Delaware won't have one of the most powerful senators in DC but we still have 2 democrats

2. Let's see we won senate pick-ups in Virginia, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, Alaska, New Hampshire...

and North Carolina. We took out incumbants in Oregon, Alaska, North Carolina and New Hampshire

And we won Electoral Vote pickups in Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.

AND we won a new governor seat in Missouri.

Republicans won blue states pickups from, um, well, um, NO ONE

Oh and they ran a runoff in a state that has been predominantly red for the last 10 years.

But give them credit - it's real shitty year for the republicans right now, they'll take what they can get.

6. I guess he's earning his pay as RNC Chair for that spin.
If an expected win is all they have, they gotta make the best of it, I guess.

19. Dumb
When Landrieu won her runoff in '02 it was much more of an uphill battle than Saxby's, after those Repug-dominated midterm elections, and that race didn't have any real national implications. Georgia's race possibly has even fewer. They've become a solid Repug state to the point that they'll even reelect a worthless scumbag b/c of the "R" after his name. That hardly says anything about a Repug resurgence. Those kind of states weren't absent from the '08 round of elections, they just mattered less than they have previously.
