For those who are up in arms about his Cabinet appointments:

This isn't like the Bush administration, with a puppet President led around by the nose. Obama is in charge of his Cabinet, not the other way around. And the appointees were chosen because Obama believes they will be effective in carrying out HIS policies.

We need to remember - Bush = disengaged, uncurious and anti-intellectual - a follower.
Obama = engaged, curious and intellectual - a leader.

Obama is in essence the Anti-Bush.

9. Bush was and is dumb as glue. He ran on daddies name not

because he was actually capable of doing the job. The people around him did what the hell they wanted or whatever he told them to do. There probably weren't many discussions because he's an idiot. Obama is running his presidency and he knows why and for what reason he's chosen his cabinet. They will do their jobs or be replaced.

I believe, after 8 years of the Bush Crime Family virtually destroying everything it touched, people are disillusioned, disgruntled and distrustful. We have learned to expect to get screwed at every turn. We *know* Obama will be a thousand times better than Dumbya....yet it's hard to let go of the anger and anxiety. I believe like you, Obama is no patsy. He's brilliant. So, let's get this inauguration on! (P.S. DU needs a countdown-to-inauguration-day clock thingy displayed prominently...might cheer us up.)

Anybody, including Obama, is influenced by who they have around them - conversations they have, things they bring to one's attention, philosophies acted out. There is no point in ignoring that fact.

I trust that he knows what he is doing. As he has already pointed out several times, HE is the change, and the people he hires will be in charge of carrying out HIS policies.

I plan to wait and see what develops after he is sworn in, but I think he is the man for the times.
