I don't at all like this talk about Obama not bringing in enough "new blood." People need to stop and think much more. First, there will be a huge CHANGE from the Bush/Cheney regime, and that in itself is bigtime CHANGE ! Next, Obama is absolutely right. HE is the CHANGE and his team will do what HE says. Next, we are in a dire situation in this country thanks to the ReFUCKUPlicans who have most certainly fucked up this nation. He needs many EXPERIENCED people who can hit the ground running on day one, and he's not going to fall into the Carter and Clinton traps of having too many inexperienced people who don't know how Washington works and get off to the wrong start. Next, he will have a very diverse cabinet as well, and it will include some R's. As to Gates, expect him for a year or so, and then someone else will be there. Gates is quite moderate compared to the hardcore Bush neocons. And finally I would to D's, don't misread the public. MANY people voted for Obama because given the economic crisis they were willing to give a Dem a chance. It is likely that almost any Dem who the public was willing to be able to consider credible would have won. Wonderful that Obama did, and he ran a great campaign, but the winds of change largely brought this victory, not necessarily a huge national ideological swing to the left, let alone the far left. We remain a centrist nation overall, and if Dems blow it, the majority can and probably will swing back to the right again in the next cycle or two. Obama will govern largely from the pragmatic center to just left of center. BUT, don't fret. That is still a HUGE improvement over the hard right neocon criminality we've had from the Bush regime. And Obama's style will be VASTLY different: intelligent, tempered, thoughtful, HONEST, inclusive, focused on middle class interests, etc. Remember folks, we were MUCH better off under Bill Clinton than Bush, and ANGEL by comparison. And Clinton was a CENTRIST. But, THAT was part of his success and why he'd have been elected for a third term. So everyone, please be happy with all we have gained, understand the big picture,
and don't be disappointed over the hard-left "revolution" that won't happen and can't win NATIONALLY in the long run.
