Obama Transition Statement on Terrorist Attacks in Mumbai
Obama Transition Statement on Terrorist Attacks in Mumbai:

President-Elect Obama strongly condemns today's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks.

speech writers! We condemn? Root out and destroy terrorists.

You just can't make this crap up.

10. Bush statement
''We condemn these attacks and the loss of innocent life,'' White House spokesman Tony Fratto said, adding that President George W. Bush had been told of the situation and would be kept updated. ''We continue to seek more information.''

Where is the change? Where are the solutions. Why no understanding and offers to seek a peaceful resolution to the situation. Always with the "root out and destroy" threats.

21. Understanding? Are you fucking insane?
these guys just murdered 80+ people. They're holding dozens if not hundreds, hostage. There is no such thing as a peaceful solution with people like that. None.

23. Why do you think you personally deserve specifics?
The "we need more information" part of Bush's statement is a clear indication of how dumb they are.

Do you know how many times REpublicans' have got away with "the world is safer" bullshit, while bombs have gone off in India how many times?

It's blatantly obvious that the Bushes DO NOT GIVE A SHIT about inflaming Muslim insanity and letting it boil over in other countries. Yes, these attacks are the fault of a misguided, inflammatory, and irresponsible Bush War on Terror policy.

That said, look at Obama's statement - it isn't about "freedom" or "evil doers" it is about working together, not unilateraly.

6. What were you expecting Obama to say?
That he understands the distress and anger the terrorists feel and is not surprised they might strike back like this. Is that more like what you were hoping he would say?

7. Destroying terrorist networks sounds like something to get done....
But perhaps it will take you experiencing an explosion as you are eating your dinner in some hotel somewhere to understand that Terrorism is real, and that terrorist networks are not something that we should ignore. Not wanting to start useless Wars doesn't mean being stupid. :eyes:

24. Not all of it....
the phrase we "must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world," doesn't sound very Bushy to me. I think, instead, he would say, "we will seek out the people responsible for this and kill them all dead .... or at least the people in the nearest oil-rich nation."

Instead, that phrase just reinforces what I believe to be Obama's proactive worldview and one of the reasons why I voted for him. That it is by improving relations with ALL nations that we can fight terrorism. Not by attacking them them after the fact.

20. Terrorists still suck, it was just Shrub that looked awful in his dealings with them
Terrorists kill innocent people for no reason, no "peaceful" solution ever works with them. However, invading a country that had nothing to do with a terrorist attack on the United States was monumentally stupid idea.

25. Seems 'rubber stamp state' stuff. I think Obama needs to bring his foreign policy team forward...
ASAP! They say next week I say fine. The world knows how screwed up the economy is but the timing of these horrendous attacks in India seem keyed on the transition of power here, the perceived down-time in between, and imo we need those policy faces too.
