Poll question: After Obama takes office, will Dems in Congress still let GOP & Wall St. set economic policy?
Right now, they seem to still be taking their cues from Bush, and even putting conditions on Detroit, while admirable in itself, is in stark contrast to epic amounts of money given to Wall Street with essentially no oversight or demand that they change how they do business, nor even a ritual humiliation of Wall St. CEO's or token prosecution for fraud or RICO of execs at Bear Sterns, Lehman Brothers, AIG, Goldman Sachs, or any of the rest.

Will the Democrats finally give up their strategy of surrender after Obama takes office, or will they say they can't get anything done until they get a super-super unanimous majority because as long as there is one republican left in Congress, he will be the one who sets the agenda not them?

3. judging from his picks and statements so far,
we can expect more of the status quo, maybe slightly less in your face.

The shot callers on his team are status quo--pro-corporate, pro-capitalist, anti-worker, pro-"free market," supply siders.

6. Once again someone criticizes without offering who he SHOULD pick.
I don't think it's as easy as you think.

8. Melody Barnes was a pretty good pick.
The OP didn't ask for recommendations.

10. OK I'll bite. Trade that piece of shit Summers for William Greider would be great.
perhaps some of the more accomplished academics in globalization, say Jonathan Friedman (NOT to be confused THOMAS Friedman...puke) or Saskia Sassen would be GREAT for Obama's stable of economic advisors.

4. They'll be a teeny bit bolder, unless Obama and his advisors see
that significantly stronger action is needed. I'm still hopeful they will within a few months.

7. Who ended up chairing the Senate Homeland Security committee?
Once you know that you'll pretty much be able to predict how Congressional Democrats will be in the next session.
