i admit barack obama is more politically savvy tham i am
but
what i see coming out of hillary as SoS is

a good old chicago style knee capping

she will toe the line or she is gone
she cannot fundraise to pay off her debt (hatch amendment)
bill will have to be a good boy
she will have to give up her senate seat

in other words
he owns her
OWNS her
she will toe the line
or she is
GONE

1. I am hoping he didn't pick her for political purposes, because that
would really devalue the SoS role and would diminish him in my eyes--however, I don't think he appointed her for her vast body of foreign policy knowledge or her diplomatic skills either. I am left still scratching my head on this one.

3. On that point, it is sort of a brilliant move.

But, we need someone who is very qualified in foreign relations and diplomacy to be Secretary of State. This is a very troubled and perilous time in which many matters need to be solved on the international front. Putting her in this position is not very wise, when her resume is comes into it.

Furthermore, if Obama truly wanted to neutralize Clinton's power, he could have put her in another federal position other than SOS (like Labor, HHS,Education, etc.). It still removes her from power and she won't be fourth in line to the Presidency, imho.

I still see this move as a basic quid pro quo.

4. he is also a first class seducer

I believe that they genuinely have deep affection for each other and enjoy working with each other, making the whole knee capping thing unnecessary.
