Greenwich Dem Town Committee (DTC) passes resolution to Censure and Repudiate Joe Lieberman
Some good news on the “Hold Lieberman accountable” front.
The Greenwich DTC passed this resolution in front of ex-Speaker of the CT House of Reps, Jim Amman, who backed Lieberman in the 2006 primary and general elections. Amman is bidding to be CT’s Democratic nominee for governor in 2010. If he wins the nomination, I won’t vote for him in the 2010 general election. He didn’t vote for the 2006 Democratic nominee for the US senate. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Greenwich is the home of Ned Lamont and newly elected US Rep Jim Himes. Himes defeated Chris Shays, the last Republican in the House from the Northeast.

I talked to my DTC Chair about this censure resolution. I hope my DTC will support this resolution.

1. Is there a strong alternative fo Amman who's considering running?
If somebody steps up, please let us know. A lot of us would be there to help that person.

3. Please learn from history and don't do that to us.. Dems who were too "pure" to vote Dem
helped give us Nixon and Bush. If you don't vote or vote third party, you will help CT elect another Pub governor. What happens if a Senate or Congressional seat needs to be filled, even temporarily? A Republican gets appointed and becomes the incumbent. As Lieberman's own history shows, it is harder to dislodge an incumbent than it is to re-elect an incumbent. So please don't spite our face by cutting off your nose over trash like Lieberman.

4. Isn't Lieberman a third party candidate now?
He didn't show concern over splitting the vote and losing the seat. So that same concern is no longer owed to him.

5. Dem leaders like Amman do not value loyalty from us peasants
they demand and expect it. It's not about purity. It's about respect. Dem leaders like Amman do NOT respect us.

Anyway, the Dem controlled state legislature can change the rules on how a new senator is chosen. When Dodd was running for Prez, they produced a bill to have Dodd's replacement chosen by a special elections. But the Dem controlled state legislature did not push it through. In 2008, the Dems in CT incresed the number of Dems elected, so they have no excuse not to pass it now.
