Actually lower than I used to be. When I took the full personality battery including a more official version of this test I ended up in the 90s as a Mach rating. (ENTJ with off the scale T, 1-2 (weak 2) DISC if anybody cares about the others)

Macchiavelli is much maligned. Even the book his reputation as a slimeball is based on is not a reflection of what he wanted, but what he saw actually work in real life - and remember he lived under Savonarola and the Medicis. He was if anything being a bit too kind.

Another word for somebody who agrees with statements like the ones in this test is "realist"

I don't think it takes a deconstructionist literary critic to see 'The Prince' as a kind of 16th Century Stephen Colbert rant which went straight over the heads of its audience.

It's too bad this term has become an acceptable synonym for cynical ruthlessness, when Borgian or Agothoclean (quick examples from NM's writings) would be a lot more apt.

To extend the analogy, I imagine people 500 years from now referring to Colbertian philosophy of the importance of 'standing ON things' as well as standing FOR things.

I totally bombed it because I spaced out on the context of the question and was all "Well of course you'd be more mad about your parents as it's your flesh and blood! You can find somewhere else to live, but you only get one family."

My teacher laughed and laughed at me for giving the exact opposite of the correct answer. But, it was well supported so I got some pity points for that.

serfs or peasants or some such thing, and theory, so the correct answer in that context was that property was the more traumatic loss since if you lost that you lost everything, but if your father was killed you'd be sad, but at least you'd still have your farm and a way to live.

I'm butchering it since it was a decade ago and I didn't pay enough attention in that class--hence the bombing of the essay--but I remember when my teacher explained why I was nice to think that way but wrong in that particular instance, it made sense.
