I took my brother to a job interview today...
It was quite an experience. My brother was laid off at his job 2 weeks ago. I took him to a job interview in Downtown NOLA. Before arriving he showed me the advertisement in the Times-Picayune. It showed the job type, job description, starting salary and how to contact. We arrived there, the hiring manager called him up. The interview lasted for about 5 minutes. The hiring manager was asking him questions about another job with the company. My brother stopped and asked him about the job he applied for, the hiring manager told him that the job was already filled (Bullshit) then the manager avoided that subject very quickly. Then he asked him, "How do you feel about working for 100% commission? My brother got up, walked out and told me "lets go." ........Shortly after, I thought about you guys on DU. This situation has been mentioned on numerous posts here on DU. Employers sucker people in the door to take lesser jobs with lesser pay.

1. I believe that would be called "job bait-and-switch."
It should be just as illegal as it is in retail sales.

2. At least they were honest enough to pull that crap up front
I got jacked around on a management training program one time and turned down a real position but ended up with the shaft. Not really so, so much on the money but for the position. Turns out it was their hiring manager's M.O., he pitched upper management that if he got nothing but over qualified people for the money they were willing to pay that our personnel would be top flight but the reality is it just made us FLIGHTY.

I did have a situation where something similar happened to me but they actually had the guy in there signing his contract. The dude I was interviewing with (and yes, he was the same soul that set up the interview) said that he just had to pull the trigger because the guy was great. Never mind seeing what he and I had to discuss, especially considering he headhunted me too.
Some hiring managers are stupid and classless. You do your interviews and then decide. I think its better that I didn't get caught up with Captain Impulse anyway, he asked could he call me if the other guy didn't work out as he hoped but I advised him not to bother.
