'HARDBALL' GUY DERAILS HILLARY

November 18, 2008 --

"HARDBALL" host Chris Matthews and the other "castratos" at MSNBC shouldn't hold their breath waiting for a Hillary Clinton interview.

Matthews, who once opined that men who supported Clinton were "castratos in the eunuch chorus," forgot the cardinal rule for those who are often mentioned on Page Six - he didn't take a good look around on the Acela train from Philadelphia to Washington Saturday before he started bad-mouthing the New York senator.

An avowed Clinton lover who was sitting next to Matthews reports: "He was in business class wearing a red baseball hat that said Penn on the back, and the fat fell asleep on the train and snored with his mouth open."

During the ride to DC, Matthews awoke from his nap. A fellow passenger asked him, "What's the news tomorrow?" - to which Matthews loudly started talking about President-elect Barack Obama possibly picking Hillary as his secretary of state.

"I don't understand it," Matthews bellowed. "Why would he pick her? I thought we were done with the Clintons. She'll just use it to build her power base. It's Machiavellian. And then we'll have Bill Clinton, too. I thought Obama didn't want drama. He's already got Emanuel and Podesta. He'll have even more drama with her.

"She's just a soap opera. If he doesn't pick her, everyone will say she's been dissed again, we'll have to live through that again."

Matthews seems to be playing both sides of the fence. The host, who apologized to Clinton last year for claiming she got where she was because "her husband messed around," said on-air last Friday: "Look, I think that since she lost the fight for the nomination, has been not just a good soldier, she has sang the tune of . She's been illustrious, she's been admirable . . . her spirit seems to be with him."

A rep for Clinton declined to comment while a rep for Matthews didn't return e-mails.

It appears that Tweety is becoming unraveled, couldn't happen to a better sexist creep.

7. Then guy is a jerk, not because he's not entitled to his opinion,
but because he displayed his sexism throughout the primaries.

He's one of the main reasons why I won't watch MSNBC.

I agree with Tweety as well. IMHO, Obama promised Hillary the SOS spot when she stopped running in the primaries and threw her support behind Obama. Again, IMHO, that is the only way this all makes any sense.

28. It's not his political opinions I object to,
it's the sexist remarks he made for months against the one woman running for president. If he had instead made racist remarks, all of you would be up in arms about it.

It's always the same double standard around here simply because the woman happened not to be the candidate of choice of most on this board. So it was OK to excuse his piggish comments.

Agree with this statement:

"Why would he pick her? I thought we were done with the Clintons. She'll just use it to build her power base. It's Machiavellian. And then we'll have Bill Clinton, too. I thought Obama didn't want drama. He's already got Emanuel and Podesta. He'll have even more drama with her.

"She's just a soap opera. If he doesn't pick her, everyone will say she's been dissed again, we'll have to live through that again."

Yes, the Clinton's are all drama, all the time. There is nothing sexist or untrue about it.

42. The word itself is not sexist, but he is.
Besides, why is it Machiavellian to want to change jobs? I personally would rather she stayed away from his cabinet. So I'm not advocating for her to take the SOS gig, but why is it wrong for her to want to further her career? Isn't exactly that what Obama did or is he the only one who doesn't get criticized for wanting to be president?

;-)

Edited on Tue Nov-18-08 02:53 PM by ErinBerin84
He has said things regarding race that I am unhappy with too. So can't we stick to criticizing those? We are debating something posted on PAGE SIX. He has been pretty measured lately on his show, and was shooting down people like Michelle Bernard, etc, who were saying that Hillary would be horrible, and was defending Hillary. And if he DID say this off the air, at least he is trying to be more measured on his show and pointing out the benefits of having Hillary as SOS. Jeeze.

36. Thank you.
Finally the voice of reason. Aside from his many misogynist remarks, he even pinched her cheek after a press conference in NH. He's the typical sexist jerk who puts women down, but can't resist trying to ogle at women. I remember the teasing he got at the time from the members of his panel. He also made some inappropriate remark to an attractive financial analyst who came on his show (I forgot her name). Tweety is an ass, around here he's popular because his leg never stopped tingling for Obama, if he had favored Hillary they would be trashing him too.

33. "This is well on its way to winning best Oscar for drama.”
From (and props to) ClarkUSA's original post:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7881371&mesg_id=7881371

Team Obama, after all but offering SecState to Senator Clinton, is expressing EXASPERATION with the Clinton camp for the difficulty in getting a clean vet on President Bill Clinton’s many entanglements. “The ball is very much in her court, but the president's finances have been a major point of sensitivity from day one,” a Democratic official said. (“Day One!”)

“Given that everyone's mystified by how deliberately public the Clintons have made this once secret process, the assumption is either that the Clintons are trying to use the public buzz to steamroll their way in, create a sense of inevitability that overcomes those concerns, or that it's just a matter of time before they … satisfy vetting somehow, some way.

Otherwise, after all this speculation, there’ll be a permanent dark cloud hanging over her finances. … But generally the sense among the no-drama Obama world is: This is well on its way to winning best Oscar for drama.”
