The more we talk about these Memos, the more we help Bush
As long as whether these memos were authentic is the main topic of discussion, we're playing right into Rove's hands.

Rove wants us talking about anything other than substantive issues.

1. What memos?
Some say they do not exist.

Now about health care, John Kerry today said this . . .

“The truth is George Bush sold a bill of goods to the American people, while he gave a bag of goodies to his special interest friends,” Kerry said. “That’s W – wrong choices, wrong direction and the wrong leadership for America.”

“You can imagine how hard the Bush administration had to work to pull a fast one like that on the American people,” Kerry said. “In the end, it looks like all of George Bush’s special interest friends got a big payoff while seniors got a bigger bill.”

“John Edwards and I will set a new direction,” Kerry said. “George W. Bush believes when it comes to Medicare, the big drug companies come first, the insurance companies come second and seniors come last. Well I’m going to put you first. Medicare doesn’t belong to the special interests, it belongs to you. You paid for it. We have a plan for a real prescription drug benefit for seniors, to cut the cost of prescription drugs for all Americans and to make health care affordable and available for everyone in this country.”

That is what he said.

2. I posted a thread earlier...
...about how people seem to be forgetting about Ben Barnes and his claim that he pulled strings to get Bush into the Guard to begin with, which was the other point brought up in the 60 Minutes segment on Wednesday. The thread sank like a stone. Everyone is focusing on the documents and whether or not the right kind of typewriter existed at the time to produce them.

4. The forgeries were not relevant to the story. So why introduce them?

6. flawed premise alert.
It has not been substantiated that the documents were forgeries.

8. The Kerry Camp needs to talk issues
Issues, issues, and more issues.

Whether George W. Bush fulfilled his Guard obligations has no bearing on the fact that he's been a lousy President and Americans are worse off than they were when he took office.

That needs to be the message.

7. Exactly.
All he needs is one of these silly soap opera diversions each week for the next 7 weeks. Interestingly, the Kelly book will help him in that way. All fluff and no issues.

Next week: ?

9. But when the documents are proven to be real
and then people talk about what they actually say, and then people connect them to Bush's pattern of behavior all through his life and into his administration......etc, etc....

I disagree.
