Has it sunk in yet?
I think I'm in a bizarro version of the Seven Stages, because I'm still in denial that the nightmare is over.

Bush will be gone in a little over two months. We will have a left-leaning Democratic President who will work tirelessly to undo the damage wrought by the thugs in power over the last eight years. He'll have a Democratic Senate and House to back him up. In addition, we've crossed a huge barrier, as roughly 52 percent of this nation voted for an African American as President.

Oh, sure. There's still a lot of work to be done, and I don't want to belittle it, nor the injustice done towards our GLBT friends in California. But for the first time, I have reason to hope. We all do. And I refuse to believe it.

Come on! When's the other shoe going to drop? When is Obama going to pull off his mask to reveal Dick Cheney scowling underneath? When are we going to realize that, through mass hypnosis, we were all tricked into voting for Palin instead? When am I going to wake up to find that it's actually 2003 and the last five years were a dream brought on by a post-Iraqi invasion drinking binge?

I don't think I'll believe it until Obama has opened his Presidential Library.

2. I sometimes think I'm dreaming.
I have waited for the pendulum to swing for 28 years. Long time in the wilderness.

3. It will have sunk in when my first waking thought in the morning is
not "Obama won the election." I am figuring that will be around January 21st or so.

6. No... I keep reading news reports and thinking "will this effect the polls?"
and then I remember not to worry about the polls anymore. :D

7. No. This will take some time for me to feel what truly happened.
I had back in 2000 that I would not see a black president until at least 2020. I also would have never guessed that the black candidate would have won North Carolina and Indiana among other states.

But I think it will on January 20th when President Obama takes the oath. I may not be able to hold back the tears.
