do you know anyone who lost their job because of obama?
a friend a mine told me that his co-worker got fired because of his strong support of obama. the higher ups at my job are acting like obama's win is some kind of tragic moment in history. i hear alot of other people are getting fired out spite from republican dominated jobs. i've never seen so many angry white people in my life.

14. lost job over Obama's tax plan
My husband did lose his job because of Obama's tax laws. His
boss actually told him that. My friends husband was told
November 5th that he needed to start looking for a job because
come January his boss is closing up shop. Again he stated
Obama's tax plan as the reason.

There's two people.

My husband is a diesel mechanic, and my friends husband is a
CDL A Driver. Both of them worked for different companies.
The one who is closing up shop employs about 150 people.

So I guess I know of another 150 people who will be out of
work come January.

That's all I wanted to say.

thanks for listening.

First of all, Obama hasn't even been sworn in yet. And we are supposed to believe a business owner is shutting down his company because ??? Riiiiiiiight.

24. still true
I know, Obama's not even in office yet. My friends husband said the same thing, we don't know whats going to happen, we don't know what taxes will be implemented. but still my friend's husband is now looking for work, because of what he was told November 5th. I'm online looking for work for my husband and my friends husband.

I'm not saying the guy who owns the business is the smartest or even doing the right thing, I'm just answering the question to this post. Sorry if you don't like it. But it doesn't change what's happening.

I don't like that my husband is looking for work, we're struggling to keep our house and this isn't going to be easy.

BTW, this is in colorado, don't know if it makes a difference.

again, sorry if you don't like a response to the question. It was the reason given for the loss of my husband and my friends husbands jobs.

again, thanks for listening

we just want to keep our home. And my husband is just looking for work with someone who will be able to keep the company going no matter what 'tax' plans are started.

but thank you, we do hope to find work soon.

Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 04:02 PM by walldude
Your telling me a business owner who has 150 employees is closing up shop because he's afraid of what Obama's tax plan might do to him? BTW In Obama's tax plan his tax rates might go up a whole 3 or 4 percent. By god that's enough to kill off any stable business!

my husband works in Commerce City, Colorado, and my friend's husband works in Denver Colorado, their pretty close to each other. The company my husband worked for is US Transport. I don't know the name of the other company that my friend works for.

27. That's crazy. Chances are those two companies were having
serious problems and used Obama as a reason. Believe me, NO ONE is going to shut down a company prematurely due to a tax plan that hasn't been implemented yet.

By the way, this isn't Molerway Freight is it?

34. No, not Molerway
US Transport is a decent company, they just made a deal with DIA and so work wasn't supposed to slow down. I'm not sure how well they were doing. But that was the reason given. As far as the other company, I know it wasn't Molerway.. it's a place on Dahlia, in Denver. Sorry, that probably doesn't help.

Anyway, thought i'd share that much with you. That's about all I can say. Obama was the reason given.

again, I'm sorry if it's something obviously some of you don't want to hear, and I do wish it wasn't true. But we really don't have a choice but to deal with it and try to find a new job for my husband.

I'm not trying to cause trouble btw.

but thank you for listening.

35. I don't fault you. It stinks that your husband and friend were told that.
I do hope they're both able to find jobs quickly. With the economy in it's current state, and diesel prices not dropping like gasoline has, I can understand some trucking companies having problems. The less that is manufactured or ordered and sold, the less there is to transport. Transportation by rail has been increasing as well due to transportations costs, which means less OTR drivers.

We've been through 2 factory closings so I understand how difficult and frightening job loss can be. DH went almost a year the last time without work.

I wish you and your family and friend the best of luck.

My friend's DH (just realized that meant Dear Husband, right? lol) was a local driver, and is didn't want to be over the road, but seeing how things are, he just might have to.

anyway, thank you again for not 'yelling' at me. wasn't trying to tick off anybody, just saw the post and wanted to see if it was happening to anyone else.

41. You do realize, of course, that gas prices have hurt most transport companies horribly badly.
This stuff didn't just happen, you know that, of course.

Pardon, me if I find it all too convenient that you are claiming this now without realizing that virtually all businesses saw the bad economy coming and planned for it. Looks like US Transport wasn't very sharp.

I'm not buying your boss's excuse. Sorry your husband lost his job but I think you are being bullshitted big time on the reason.

Stop and think a minute and I hope you will realize what is really quite obvious.

42. just answering the posts question
It was asked if anyone lost a job over Obama, I saw this and answered. I would assume that gas and diesel prices probably had something to do about it, but the reason given to both my husband and my friends husband was Obama's tax plan.

Like I said, I'm not trying to cause a problem, it's just the reason given.

thanks for listening,

40. Sounds like that business owner wouldn't have lasted anyway
I can't imagine anyone who runs a successful business overreacting far ahead of the fact on an issue like this, to the point of closing their business. Either this business owner is short sighted and, frankly, a drama queen, or he was planning on closing it anyway.

43. already in the process
My friends boss is starting to sell parts, trucks, and just let go most of his office staff.

Apparently it's already happening.

My Friend is so upset, she thinks their going to lose their house and crying on the phone. they were supposed to have till January, and it looks like it's going to happen sooner.

She is scared to death. He should get a job pretty quick though. I have found 10 jobs that he qualifies for in the last hour, 3 of them local driving jobs. So we have our fingers crossed. He's going to an interview now. Gotta go and check on some jobs for my hubby. Diesel mechanic jobs are a little harder to find.

Anyway, thanks again for listening,

j

Just last night, my step-mother told me there's a small company north of here.... the owner/president of this small company flew the flag at the factory upside-down, right after the election... several of his employees told him they're quitting if he doesn't put the flag back proper... they didn't go back to work until he did so.

23. I almost did!
But then, I've been working for a political advertising agency for the past year. My contract said there would likely be no job for me after the 2008 election, and that my employer was under no obligation to retain beyond the election.

Instead, we won, and won big. I worked on Kay Hagan's campaign, Larry Kissell's campaign (running against loon Robin Hayes in NC), created several mass mailings to defeat Tom Feeney in Florida, and I did many, many Obama pieces for the DCCC. A couple of weeks before the elections I was rewarded with a permanent job at the agency. But up until then, I assumed Obama would leave me unemployed after the election.

Well, Obama's movement was part of it, also Betsy Markey had something to do with it, but the chief responsibility for her job loss goes to the voters of Colorado's 4th Congressional district.

Can't say I have the slightest sympathy for that bitch - she's probably already hooked up with a lobbyist job for some evil corporation by now, or maybe she'll be a lobbyist for Focus On The Family... :scared:
