Public gave Bush approval for 3 years
---

Selfish CONS don't want to give Obama one minute, much less one day, or one year.

2. The media made sure Bush was protected all those years....at least they LET Obama campaign and
have broadcast airtime the last two years. Back in 2003-4 the candidates and nominee got bare minimum while they gave Bush wall to wall...especially when he had the conveniently timed TERROR ALERTS.

3. Obama's got a 70% favorable right now
Of course, favorability is different from job approval...Bush's favorable is still higher than his job approval. Obama doesn't have a job approval rating yet but so far it looks like people are giving him a chance.

4. Your memory of Bush's first term is different from mine.
As I recall, Bush's favoribility was nose diving prior to September 11, 2001. After that date his approval rating inexplicably soared. I never understood why he wasn't held accountable for the disaster that was that day. I guess he was always a good cheerleader.

6. I remember thinking he wouldn't last out his first year
Pre-9/11, Bush's approval rating was middle-fifties--oscillating between 53 and 58 percent.

Also remember that in the pre-9/11 days, we had a First Lady and First Gentleman, not a President and First Lady. He spent most of his time doing photo opps, reading to kids in classrooms, all the things a good First Lady does. (Well, he did all these things between vacations.) In fact, on 9/11 he was performing a First Gentleman duty by reading to kids in a Florida classroom when disaster struck.

I figured the Republican Party would ask him to admit he made a mistake by taking the job and to retire gracefully, so they could put Cheney in the White House. Cheney dearly wants to be president, but he's absolutely unelectable outside Wyoming. I've met Cheney and he may be the most humorless man alive.

7. Bush-Cheney: the two-headed dragon.
I've decided I can't decide which one I detest more. They are melded in my head.

I celebrate the end of the reign of terror.
:hi:

CELEBRATE!!!!

:smoke:   :woohoo: :applause:
