1. why would you want to talk him down?
Let him deal with it and wallow in his pity with Limabugh and Hannity.

Remember, if his "hero" is Bush, there is nothing you can say to knock sense into him

2. What's Bush's approval rating?
Somewhere around 19% I doubt there is anything you can say to talk him down. Don't waste your effort. Enjoy the party and don't talk politics.

12. It's pretty hard to debate
the merits of something that hasn't happened yet. If his guy had done a better job then your boss might not be looking at an Obama presidency and a Democratic controlled House and Senate. Failure has consequences and the Republicans are going to have to face those consequences.

After 8 years of failed policies I wonder what he thought would happen.

I would tell him to give Obama a chance. He really has no choice in the matter anyway.

16. Congratulate him...
...on his new minority status and remind him who his compatriots are.

The rest of the country went for the smart guy.

Seriously though, if Bush is his hero, there is no hope for the guy. I would just say the people have spoken and he should live with it. Anything else is unpatriotic, or so we've been told these past 8 years.

3. Ask him how the recent bank bailout fits in with the free market philosophy.
Also ask him why We the People are being asked to socialize the failing businesses & not the profitable ones. It is a classic 'socialize the risk, privatize the profits.' If he gives reasons why it should have been done, ask him why it is ok to provide safety nets for corporations, but not for living, breathing people.

Also consider asking him to define socialism. I've found that often times, right wingers spout off talking points they've heard but don't really know the terms they are talking about.

7. yeah his definition of socialism is purely ethnic
he blames minorities for this housing crisis, and feels obama's tax cuts will only favor poor minorities

14. Hit him with facts
Explain that McClatchy reported recently 84% of subprime loans came from *private* lenders.

Put that together with the fact that a solid majority of African Americans who got variable rate loans qualified for a fixed rate. So why did so many end up with subprime loans? Maybe because some of these private lenders were giving commissions (as much as $4,000 per loan) for subprimes.

Have him reconcile those things with the absurd idea that Jimmy Carter and minorities are responsible for the housing crisis. If he persists point out how much GWB played up (at least he used to quiet often) home ownership, including for minorities.

Finally, draw a connection between the failure of conservative deregulation and today and the same failure in the 80's that created the Savings & Loan debacle (which led to a huge tax payer funded bailout!).

Republicans on other forums have been saying they are going to fire Obama supporters that work for them.

11. Just sit there and smile knowing that soon Obama will be president
if you value your job.

If you don't mind being fired by a vindictive repuke jerk (sorry I repeat myself there), yell "jump!"
