1. If we want to entertain the prospect of 60 seats, we need to entertain him

and be a lot nicer than we are being. Taking away his chairmanship though, is not a good start, and could be getting rid of the person who could give us the 60th seat if things go well in Georgia and Alaska in the end.

vote anyway. So, he will vote some amalgalm of his self-interest in getting re-elected and his conscience, no matter who he caucuses with. And, if he goes too far to the right, Connecticut may not re-elect him. So, it's win, win.
