Here's my wish list for Year One

of the Obama Administration:


To start with, a revamped FCC that will restore the Fairness Doctrine and limits to media ownership.

Removal of occupation troops from Iraq

At least two new Supreme Court justices, allowing Ruth Bader Ginsberg and John Paul Stevens to retire at long last.

Re-regulation of banks and restoration of the regulatory powers of the EPA, OSHA and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, among others.

Re-regulation of utility companies.

A complete overhaul of our national energy policies and imposition of windfall profits taxes on the oil companies.

Restoring our government's ability to disseminate contraceptives and family planning information both domestically and internationally.

A redirection of Small Business Administration funds to actual small businesses rather than to big corporations as is being done by the current Misadministration.

A thorough investigation into corruption in the Bureau of Indian Affairs resulting in restoration of missing funds to Native American tribes.

A stop to leasing of federally owned land for drilling, logging and other commercial purposes.

Strong new oversight rules on the issuing of federal contracts, and a complete halt to no-bid contracts such as those awarded to KBR, Halliburton and Bechtel among others. Also a thorough investigation into those contracts and possibly lawsuits for restitution.

A Special Prosecutor to look into the illegal activities of the Bush/Cheney Misadministration.


Those are just off the top of my head -- I'll think of other stuff right after posting this.
