Memo- Bush needs to have a press conference to "set the record straight"
Forged documents? Real documents? What does BUSH say?

Talking point: "Bush can clear up all of this "nonsense" simply by having a press conference and answering all these questions once & for all...

2. Bush assembles a team to "negotiate" terms for debates...
... and he's going to "set the record straight?"

Geez. He's never elucidated his record to date, has he? This guy's never done anything on his own in his life. He doesn't know how. :eyes:

3. Its just a fun thing to say in response to the "forgery" memo.
I think its a good DEM response:

"...look, these charges have been around for years- Bush can clear the record in press conference today if he wanted too, unless they are true, that is..."

6. He can't stay in his bubble much longer. It's obvious the pressure is
getting to him in a big way.

8. That is great!!!
Dude

That is smart. Good thinking!

"Couldn't Bush clear this up during one of his press conferences?"

"Shouldn't Bush clear this up with a press conference now, rather than waiting for the debates?"

"If he doesn't hold a press conference soon, aren't the media going to keep harping on this?"

9. It would require he tell the truth.
That's the only way to head off any future fallout from new witnesses or documents. And that's not going to happen, because the truth is unflattering, plus it runs counter to the story Bush has allowed to be told in the past. They are simply going to keep trying to force any new information to fit into the puzzle as they have already put it together, and take any fallout. Remember, this is the campaign that insists Iraq was the right move; stubbornly refusing to back down in the face of overwhelming evidence that you fucked up is a sign of strength, at least according to the Bush campaign.
