What is wrong with Oklahoma?
I was looking at a county by county map of the election and Oklahoma is the only state to have no county go blue. Even in Utah two county's went for Obama.

19. You have my sympathy,,,
Whenever we drive up there (from TX) to visit relatives near Tulsa I feel like I've gone thru a backwards time warp as I cross the Red River.

29. its easy to be liberal in a liberal state
i dont know how many time at work someone has pissed me off and i say, thats it, im moving to delaware! BUT yes look what we have done in this country in the last 8 years as Historic NY said and that is why i stay (that and my 3 beautiful grandkids). almost daily i talk to republican co workers about issues..we have conversations and sometimes we have yelling matches, but we all remain friends about it and they are starting to listen more. i got my two female coworkers registered and they voted for obama..so i'm staying here, im going to fight and speak out and try my best to educate all that i come in contact with.

4. Too many RW "christian" churches to spread the smears, plus
the Oklahoma economy hasn't been relatively hit as hard as the rest of the country, plus no democratic party organization, plus no effort by the presidential campaign to spend time and resources here because of the above...

6. My nutty wingnut relatives live there ...
and I'm grateful really. Somehow, we never come up with the money to go back for a visit. Ever since they moved back there (in-laws followed inlaws who went there for a job), our holidays have been SO peaceful and divine ...

17. groupthink
you should try living here. it's downright discouraging sometimes.

actually - early returns, especially near norman, ardmore, muskogee, lawton (home of ft. sill) and even oklahoma city were amazingly blue. OKC was 68% blue at one point. that was due to early voting, apparently, because all the fundies then got their vote on and we watched, sadly, as the mouthbreathers took over again and the map steadily turned red again.

lots of obama fans here. dem governor. obama making an appearance would have helped a LOT but still probably wouldn't have won the state. too many people believe Bush was great and only watch fox news. lots of intellectual incuriosity.

economy's still pretty decent here for the time being, but soon it will hit and they will all be flabbergasted and wondering what's going on. hubby and i were just discussing cashing out and moving somewhere where people actually think . . .

parents very very religious. My cousin is dating a guy whose folks live there and she can't stay in same room with him when she visits and they are in their 50's.

Then there are my rich cousins who are also from there...they want to retire there from Los Angeles and since they are very right wing i say go...

18. The Oklahoma Democratic Party has a lot of problems
The Democrats that have positions of power are of the Blue Dog variety. Racism played a huge role. Not only did Oklahoma vote for McCain but also gave the state senate to the Repugs and now they control both houses for the first time since statehood. Look for some crazy legislation to come out of the next state session. I fear we will have a Repug for Governor in 2010.

Luckily I live in one of the few counties that went for Andrew Rice over Jim Inhofe.

Even Kansans look down upon Oklahoma - from a not very sizable height, but there it is. I hate it that people always seem to need someone to look down on.

27. What's wrong with Alabama? 51% of Dems voted for McCain-WTF
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/polls/#val=ALP00p1

If the Dems in AL and GA had been a tad bit more loyal, Obama would have won GA handily.

28. I hate it here...
Today at school, my 12 yr old girl and her three friends were being called Muslims and Terrorists because we voted for Obama. We are middle class white Catholics for heaven sake. They were just spewing hate and lies and ugliness. They were saying that they hope he gets assassinated b/c if not we are all doomed in a couple of months because he is gonna get us killed. I cannot believe the ignorance and racism that is spilling out right now. A couple of weeks ago I thought these people were salt of the earth, now I see how wrong I was. WOW! These kids are getting it from their parents. That is what scares me.
