3. At least you have some blue counties as solace.
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 10:07 AM by SoonerPride
We're red from the Kansas border to the aptly named Red River and from the Arkansas border to the Texas panhandle.

ugh.

I at least hoped Oklahoma or Tulsa counties would flip blue.

Congratulations on your blue county!

7. And we will--of this, I have no doubt.
West Virginia is already strongly blue in every other category--we just have to work on these Presidential elections. We'll get back to blue again, no doubt about it.

:hi:

8. Obama got 91,000 votes and 25% in the Democratic Primary.
He got 301,000 votes and 43% in the General Election. I realize that we are talking apples and oranges, but I would put money on him winning the state in four years.

9. Oh, I'm sure of it.
I suspect that leftover primary resentment was part of why we didn't manage it this time. It'll be different next time around--no primary ickiness to make people feel sour.

13. Well *ours* is. I don't know about the rest.
I'm hella disappointed in Kanawha County, I have to say. That's where Charleston is. I can't believe it didn't go blue. WTF?

12. Mongolia. LMAO!
Our county name is actually a clerical error! It was supposed to be named after the river that runs through it--Monongahela--but the clerk in the Governor's office at the time didn't know how to spell it, so she typed in "Monongalia." It stuck, and so the county was named.

We've been an aberration since the day the county was born. Me and good old Mon County have that in common.

16. I was kinda hoping to see Mineral County in there
that's where my partner (HillbillyBob on DU) is from. We're working on 'em up there, got his folks to vote blue at least. You're not far from there, I see. We'll have to buy the coffee for you and yours next time we're through there!

Our county in NC is blue and NC went mostly-blue at the state level. We've still got a few puke House Reps to get rid of (like that vile little queen Patrick McHenry), but we're getting there. We did go for a Dem Senator (Hagan) to replace Biddy Dole, put Dem Bev Perdue in as Governor and unofficially went for Obama as POTUS.

There's hope!

Congrats on a blue county! You've got a right to be proud! K&R!
